Clara pushed the the doors open and entered the strange but familiar office. Clara had been here dozens of times before, but none of those times have given her this sense of dread. She approached the desk that the director was sitting in, his attention was on a file he was reading.

"A strong and capable female trained in multiple fighting styles, and the art of the slight of hand. A computer genius that can get any job done effectively," she heard him reading the file aloud, she soon realized it was her own personal file and more specifically her report from the training academy, "highly recommend Agent Clara Oswald for acceptance within the agency."

Then the director dropped the file, revealing his face, and he looked at Clara in a way that made her want to cower. She resisted and remained nearly calm, though she was feeling very ashamed.

"Sir, I would just like to apologize for what happened." Clara spoke but didn't meet his eyes.

The director used to be an agent himself. He was one of the first, the very first agents to travel through time and space to save the universe. His code name was The Doctor. No one ever knew his real name. Not even his fellow agents, not even his closest friends, and certainly not his most feared enemies. He was said to be the stuff of legend. A complete genius that was never armed. He became the most successful agent out on the field without even shooting a gun or throwing a punch. Nowadays he just supervises over everything. Makes it all work. Clara wanted to be like him, but now she knew she could never achieve that level of greatness.

"Agent Oswald, I have the right to dismiss you after a stunt like this." The Doctor threatened. Clara just gulped and played with her fingers behind her back.

"Yes, sir." She responded.

"But I won't." He said so quietly that she could just make out what he said.

"You what?" She couldn't believe her ears.

"I'm not going to dismiss you, Agent Oswald." He said clearer that time.

She stood there in shock for a second but quickly collected herself, "might I ask why, sir?"

"You're a good agent, Clara, and I wouldn't want to see someone like you sent off." He said as he adjusted his jacket, she was surprised he used her real name.

"Uh--thank you, sir." She wasn't expecting that level of praise when she came into the office.

"Although, you know I can't let you go unpunished for what you did, if you hadn't noticed the time trials project is now four months behind. I've got fifteen missions happening at this very moment just to clean up your mess."

She then went back to her reserved state. "Yes, sir."

"So I'm taking you out of project time trials."

"What?" She spoke with disbelief, "no, you can't do that!"

"It is my understanding, Agent Oswald, that you violated six different policies of our code books and broke several laws across the space-time continuum," The Doctor said to her with a demanding voice, "you cannot be allowed your current position any longer."

"I've been a part of that project since the beginning, I helped create it, you can't just kick me out!" Clara started to grow more ferocious.
