The armory was below all of the residential areas, and took up the most space. As the name suggests, all of the supplies, gadgets, and special equipment was stored in the armory. Miraculously there isn't any weapons or actual armor. It just sort of... got its name from everyone else. It's much easier to say then "Gadget and Equipment Storage Facility". What a mouthful.
Clara stepped off the gravity disc and walked further into the brightly lit room. There was a counter that was protected by a cage, everything was caged. No one was allowed in or out of the actual armory. It was all completely automated. But there were tables and counters for agents to modify and inspect equipment.
Clara stepped up to the counter and activated the AI.
"What can I help you with today?" The friendly voice asked with a cheerful tone.
"I need these equipment kits for a mission." Clara uses the device around her wrist to send the AI exactly what she needs for the following day. The AI registers the information and then begins to bring out the equipment.
"We will have your supplies momentarily." It says happily.
Clara turns around and waits for her supplies. It's been forever since she's had to come down to the armory to get supplies on her own. The top agents don't have to worry about doing that themselves, usually they get everything they need all laid out in their respective rooms. All they have to do it pack it up and take it with them.
Clara then noticed that others were in the armory with her, she turns to see two agents messing around with their gadgets.
"Hello, Agent Oswald." One of them greeted.
"Agent Jones." Clara greeted back.
"So you didn't get disengaged then." The other agent said.
"No I did not, Agent Tyler."
"Well that's a surprise." Agent Jones told her.
Agents Tyler and Jones. Clara knew the two were both being seriously considered for top agents. Each of them were notorious for their own completely unique abilities. Agent Jones, a former military doctor, is highly keen on humanoid anatomy and can use that knowledge to cripple her opponents or enhance her own abilities. Agent Tyler on the other hand is famous for accidentally looking straight into the heart of time, and because of that she has superior knowledge about time travel and history. Being able to know a lot about her targets without even meeting them. Of course the agency has healed her from the traumatic experience but she is able to just know things without even thinking.
"Not too surprising..." Clara said quietly.
"I heard a rumor that you've been demoted." Agent Tyler told her, teasing a bit.
"So what if I was?"
"I also heard that you're working with a newbie now," Agent Tyler continued, "it must be embarrassing for such a skilled agent like yourself."
"It's fine." Clara said to them, she was glad that the harsh shadows of the armory hid her face well.
"Agent Me said that the director was furious with your last mission report. That you were lucky to be alive." Agent Jones piped up.
"She's a liar." Clara stated simply.
"I'm not one to believe gossip," Agent Jones told her, "but Agent Me also said that the rookie you're working with failed at the academy. She just snuck in."
"Like I said... she's a liar." Clara said, "there is no way anyone could sneak their way in here."
Then there was pause. Only the sound of machinery could be heard in the background.
"Agent Oswald, your mission report..." Agent Tyler looked up at her with concern, "I just want to say I'm sorry for what happened. And... I hope it was just a mistake."
Clara almost couldn't bring herself to speak. "Yeah..." she spoke softly, "thanks."
"And we know you'll make your way up to the top again," Agent Jones said, "becoming top agent twice... not a lot of people can say they've done it."
"I appreciate it, but what I did..." Clara had to stop herself to prevent looking weak, "I don't think I'll be making top agent anytime soon."
And with that remark, Clara's supplies were packed up and appeared on one of the counters in a small briefcase. She quickly took it and then went to go back to her room. Tomorrow wasn't going to be big on dignity. And it certainly wasn't going to be a breeze, somehow working with Agent Pond seemed more difficult then managing on her own.
