Clara and Amy were in the armory putting many small gadgets into pouches and bags that were bigger on the inside. Amy's friend Mels decided to join them out of boredom.
"I haven't had anything to do for like four months!" Mels was complaining to Amy, "it's like I just live here now and don't do anything."
"I'm sure something will come up soon." Amy reassured her and closed the over-the-shoulder bag she was bringing on their makeshift mission.
"You crash a star liner into a time rift just one time, and this happens!" Mels continued on her rant.
"Hold on, that was you?" Clara asked surprised.
There were many reports of an agent crashing a massive starship, over 700,000 passengers aboard, into a rift in time which led to major clean up work for the agency. It was stated by the director that there was many time shifts that had to be made and several more donations to countless sources.
"In fairness, Mels, that is a pretty big offense." Amy told her.
"No one was hurt," Mels defended, "they just... ended up in 1800s France for a few weeks."
"I never thought that report was real." Clara comments.
"You bet it was real! You should have seen the look on the directors face when he found out! Hilarious!" Mels chuckled.
"And that is why you haven't been promoted." Clara muttered quietly.
"Alright do we have everything?" Amy asked.
"Yes, we are ready to go." Clara commands.
"Awe I wish I could go with you," Mels whines, "can't you at least tell me the mission?"
"Mels, you know I can't do that," Amy says, "it's like secret... and things." Clara mentally face palms at the comment.
The two agents haven't told anyone what they were doing. They've already broken one rule, they were about to break some more, and Clara decided that it was best not to drag anyone else into it. The more people that know, the more likely the word will get out.
Clara and Amy leave the armory, Clara desperately hoping no one would suspect them, and they proceed to transport as quickly as they could.
"Did you get the time... thing?" Amy asked her.
"Yes, I did," Clara said and then took out what looked like a bomb with several switches on it, "this will make sure we can use the TARDIS without Professor Song noticing."
They stand outside the doors of the TARDIS and Clara adjusts the settings on the time manipulator.
"Do you know how to use that thing?" Amy asked her.
"I've only used another one once before," Clara told her, "it's a very dangerous tool, and only top agents are allowed access to it. We're lucky that I was able to slip this out of Captain Jack's room without him noticing."
Amy smiled as she watched Clara work. It was very interesting to watch such a talented agent do what she does best. Amy wondered what Clara was like before she was demoted. What kind of work did she do for the agency with such special skills?
"Alright, got it." Clara said and then she stood up straight and opened the door to transport.
The two enter and they both see Professor Song turn to look at them. Quickly, Clara activated the machine and then suddenly everything in the room stopped. Frozen in an instant moment.
Amy smiled like a child, "you did it!"
"It won't be long before the rest of the agency notices the shift in time," Clara told her, "we need to move."
She quickly went over to the TARDIS controls and began working on them. It proved to be less cooperative then anticipated.
"What's wrong?" Amy asked.
"Oh this damn machine has always hated me," Clara said, "but don't worry I'll get it to work."
Amy got into one of the transport pods ready for action.
"If that machine can stop time all around it then why are we still moving?" Amy asked curiously.
"It's a completely customizable machine, it can freeze anything from a tiny speck to an entire planet. With the agency's authority of course." Clara explained.
She continued to work on the TARDIS and mess around with the controls, type in coordinates, and divert power. Being a complete computer genius, Clara can figure out any machine–even the TARDIS–with enough exposure.
"I've got it!" Clara says and then quickly gets into a transport pod, "get ready for transport, Agent Pond."
"I'm ready, Agent Oswald," Amy looks over at Clara with anticipation, "Geronimo."
Clara smiled, "Geronimo."
