Jamie's POV

"Bea! This is amazing!" I compliment her as her face goes bright red and a smile appears. I had just finished looking at her new song "Song Like You" and I had to say it was so creative. She was so creative.

"Oh, stop it. It's not that--" Before she could finish her sentence I hear a ringing sound coming from my pocket and feel a soft vibration. I groan, reaching for my phone and answering once I realized who it was.

"Hello?" I mumble feeling a bit uncomfortable now.

"JAMIE!" my aunt's voice booms making me hiss in protest. Bea bits her bottom lip waiting patiently for me to finish my call.

"Yeah?" I reply in a quiet, meek tone. When my aunt's mad it's scary. You do not want to be in the situation I'm currently in.

"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?!" I close my eyes trying to stay as calm as possible, not wanting to get in a fight over the phone in a coffee shop right in front of Bea Miller.

"I'm at Village Coffee!" I raise my voice slightly trying to get the message across hoping that tiny brain of her's could remember me telling her this morning where I was going before I left and her replying with 'yeah, whatever'.

"I never said you could go there!" I wanted to scream in protest, but I take another breath of air and try not to explode.

"What do you mean--"

"Come back here. Now!" I groan and glance up at Bea who's pretending to admire a particular corner of the wall.

"But, you said--"

"It's doesn't matter what I said then, it matters what I'm saying now. And right now I'm saying I need you home."

"Okay, fine."

"HURRY!" She yells.

"Yeah, I got it bye!" I hang up my phone and start packing my stuff up, standing up from my seat. Bea gives me a confused look. "I've gotta go my aunt needs me home so she can leave for a... business meeting," I lie. Bea's face falls the moment the words fall from my mouth.

"Okay," she replied sadly getting up as well. "So, I'll see you Saturday. I guess?"

Saturday. Oh, I still have to tell my Aunt she has to come over to Bea's house on Saturday. This was gonna be difficult.

"Yeah, Saturday," I agree, throwing my food wrapper away. "This was nice. Bye! I really liked that song by the way!"

"Thanks! Bye!"

I absolutely hated the fact that I had to leave early from our breakfast meet up. I really did want to bond with Bea and I really did want this friendship to work out, but unfortunately, I was just shy. Really shy. Not to mention having a serious case of social anxiety and never actually having a real friend in my life.

Yet, all of that aside, my aunt just had to butt in and ruin it all. She was one of the main reasons I avoided friendships, not wanting to get into a conversation about what she does for a living, because unfortunately many people look down on that. I know they don't know her or her past life AT ALL, so personally, I don't think they should have any right to judge her, but such is life. People will do as they please.

As I walk along the sidewalk all I could think about was this dinner. How were Bea and her family going to react to my aunt? They seemed pretty nice and accepting the first time I met them. However, first impressions aren't everything.

That's when I realized something. I hadn't told my aunt about the vacation!

"Jamison!" Aunt Jenna's voice rings through the house as I close the door behind me. I cringe at her angry manner and slowly walk further into the house, where I find her standing against the counter swinging her keys around her pointer finger. "Where the hell were you!?"

"I was at Village Coffee. I told you before I left," I defend looking down at my shoes sheepishly. My aunt sighs in frustration and starts walking towards the back door.

"Whatever! I have to go. I'll be back, later--"

"Wait!" I shout kicking off my shoes and running towards her. She turns around facing me with an expression that makes me believe she was going to kill me right then and there.

"What?" she asks obviously ticked off.

"Um...so...I'm just gonna come out and say it. So, a friend of mine invited me to go to Florida with them for two weeks and we're leaving Sunday. And they want to have dinner the night before so we can get to know each other and then she asked if I could sleep over. And I really want to--"

"Okay, okay! Fine! Whatever! That could actually work out I'm leaving Monday so maybe you could go with them instead of me. You'll probably have more fun. Now, goodbye for real!" She slammed the back down behind her leaving me there with a smile on my face. Did this mean I didn't have to go to Las Vegas with her?

I jump around in pure excitement, realizing that it was possible. Bea might have just saved me two weeks of what could have been the most scaring events of my life.

I flop down on the couch and hug one of the many throw pillows, closing my eyes and thinking about everything that had just happened these past few days.
