Emily's POV
The first thing that got my attention upon entering the house was the smell of sweat and alcohol. Then, when my eyes finally adjusted to the flashing lights, they focused on the mass of people on the makeshift dance floor in the living room, directly across the front door. To say that they were grinding on each other would've been the misunderstanding of the year. Those kids were practically dry humping each other.
Since we were standing at the entrance, some guy who was apparently in a hurry, pushed me out of his way, rather painfully might I add, which caused me to stumble into Leah and Sarah who were a few steps in front of me.
"Excuse you," I shouted over to the guy but my words got lost in the loud pop music. "I'm sorry girls." I apologized to my friends, who just flashed me smiles which said 'don't sweat it'.
"Let's go get something to drink!" Leah grabbed our wrists and maneuvered her way into the kitchen with Sarah and I being dragged behind her.
On the ride there we'd decided that I was going to be the designated driver so I'd just stick with soda or water.
"Hey there, gorgeous." A deep voice whispered in my ear from behind. When I turned around I realized that it was Aaron and rolled my eyes at him.
"What do you want now?" I asked him rather annoyed. I looked around the kitchen for Sarah or Leah or really anyone who could've helped me at that moment but all I saw were unfamiliar people. Thanks, girls!
"Just wanted to get a beautiful girl like yourself a drink." He raised his hands in surrender and nodded to the counter where some guy I remember from school was making the drinks behind the kitchen counter.
"Thanks but I'm the designated driver so I can't," I said and tried to step around him and into the living room where I could've found my friends but he blocked my way.
"What about a coke?" He asked and tilted his head to the side. He looked like a lost puppy when he did that.
"If I agree would you leave me alone?" I questioned with an exasperated sigh. He just nodded. "Hurry it up then." After that, he went to get my coke and I turned around, trying to catch a glimpse of any of my friends but seemed like luck wasn't on my side that night.
A red solo cup entered my line of vision from above my head and the same voice from before followed it. "Here you go Em."
"Thanks," I said, trying to be polite and grabbed the cup. I took a sip and the liquid tasted weird but I brushed it off, blaming it on the mint bubble gum I was chewing. "Anyway I sho-"
"Emily I'm sorry for the way I behaved at school." Aaron cut me off. I looked at him skeptically, not believing that he was sincere but the longer I looked at him, I decided that he wasn't lying. I silently nodded in response.
"I will go look for my friends." I awkwardly said and went in the living room. Looking around, I couldn't see any of them. Where the hell did they all go?
I went to the leather beige couch that was pushed back to the wall in order to make room so that people could dance. There were people playing truth or dare on the floor next to where I was sitting. I continued sipping on my cole while watching them do crazy things or answer embarrassing questions.
After some time I felt the seat dip under the weight of someone. Curious to see who it was, I turned my head only to come face to face with Aaron. And he was closer than I'd have been comfortable with.
"Hey again." He smiled lazily and stretched his right hand so that it was now resting behind me on the couch.
"Hey, yourself." I smiled, deciding to be polite. He did apologize after all.
