Emily's POV
The next morning I was woken up by a text from Jack saying that he wouldn't be able to pick me up and drive me to school which meant that I was left to walk all the way there so damn early in the morning.
However, what made it weirder and more suspicious was that when I tried calling him he didn't pick up, neither did he reply when I sent him a message asking why he wouldn't drive me.
I did my usual morning routine, thoughts about what could possibly be wrong with Jack still on my mind.
It was only when I was wolfing down my cereal that my mom finally noticed something was off.
"Emily, honey, what's wrong? You never ever eat that fast." She remarked.
"I have to walk to school as my amazing boyfriend can't pick me up today for some unknown reason," I explained with sarcasm dripping from my words and continued shoving spoonfuls of Nesquick in my mouth.
"I'll drive you, sweetheart. Dad suggested after sharing a knowing look with my mom. "It's on my way, it won't be a bother." He continued with a sigh when I opened my mouth to protest.
"Thanks, dad! You're the best!" I praised and kissed his cheek as I passed him on my way to the dishwasher where I put my bowl. After that, I got out my coffee mug and as I waited for the coffee machine to warm up I added the cocoa, sugar and cream powder in the purple cup.
"Of course I am." I heard him mutter sarcastically under his breath.
Now I see where my sarcasm comes from.
"Okay kiddo, let's get going or we'll both be late and I don't think my boss would be very happy about that." He ushered just as I was done making my coffee.
We both get our stuff, bid mom goodbye and hurry out of the door and into his SUV. As always I switch the radio to my favorite station and belt out the lyrics with my father only laughing at my antics and joining me from time to time.
"Now dear daughter, get your ass out of my car and go to school." He half-joked before the car had even stopped.
"Father dearest, for the millionth time, I'm not James Bond. Get that through your head old man." I laughed at his sour expression caused by my joke and hopped out of the SUV. "Good luck at work." I mouthed and waved at him once the door was closed. All I got in reply was a wink and his warm smile before he took off.
As I walked through the school's parking lot, I looked around, trying to locate the familiar Mustang or it's owner but unfortunately, I was out of luck. I was there a bit earlier than usual so I decided to drop some of my books off at my locker and then go wait for my amazing boyfriend in front of his first class for the day- physics. And although his physics teacher was a perv, who gave me the creeps every single time, I was willing to do this. I needed to know why he couldn't come today. That was so unlike him.
After taking my sweet time arranging all of my books and notebooks, leaving only the math ones in my backpack, I headed for the said room on the other side of the school.
When I reached it, I shyly peeked inside, only to find it full of people I didn't know. One of the guys sitting in the front row caught my eye, rose from his seat and with five long strides reached me all the while maintaining eye contact.
"Hi! Are you Emily?" The blonde asked, looking down at me due to our height difference.
"Ummm... Yeah." I reluctantly answered with a quizzical look undoubtedly on my face. "Do I know you?" I pressed when he just started digging through his jeans pockets, obviously trying to find something.
