Emily's POV
Currently, it was Friday and I was sitting in the last period for the day - English. During the week nothing out of the ordinary happened. Jack picked me up every morning and we went to school together and met our group of friends before classes. Then when the bell rang we'd separate and go to first period. After fourth period I'd meet up with J and go to study hall where we'd just talk during the whole thing. I sensed that I could get the teacher riled up in no time and didn't waste that ability, of course. Jack joined me in frustrating the teacher from time to time but usually, he was the one that saved my ass from detention.
Lunch, on the other hand, was kinda tough. I was bound to see either Tyler or Ashley or in the worst case both of them. I was putting a lot of effort in being invisible and not looking around but clearly, that wasn't enough.
It seemed as if last Friday I hadn't wrapped my head around what had happened and then the sleepover and the time spent with my best friend helped me forget about it all together. However, walking across the parking lot on Monday I started feeling down because that was the place where Ashley would meet up with me and J and now that was gone. Then when I was walking down the hallway to third period I caught Tyler's eye while he was talking to his group of friends and I was, once again, reminded of the events that had taken place on Friday. By lunch that day I felt completely numb. I wasn't hurting but I couldn't feel any other emotion either. When our little group had gathered around our usual table everyone sensed that something was off about me but they didn't force me to tell them what was wrong and tried to cheer me up instead. Needless to say, it didn't help.
My best friend had made it his life's mission to get me to brighten up and he took me out every afternoon whether it was just the two of us or the whole gang. I will admit, it did help... only while I was with them though.
As soon as I was back at home my mind would wander to places it probably shouldn't have for my sake. I'd start thinking whether Tyler basically rejecting me was only because he was moving or there was something else. The real torture were the what if's. I'd just sit there making up scenarios in my head which I was positive wouldn't happen.
When my parents got home from work, however, I acted as if nothing had happened and they didn't seem to notice that something was off. That or they didn't want to pry, which I was grateful for. We talked and spend time together as always, of course.
Now that it was finally Friday, everyone was excited about the football game tonight. Everyone except me, of course. I wasn't a huge fan of sports. I mean, I'd rather play it even when I had no idea what I was doing than just sit there and waste my time watching it.
Anyway, the game started at seven so we had four hours to kill before that since my oh so nice friends had made me agree to go to it. Oh, let's not forget that they also persuaded me to go to the party after that. Yeah, you can make me do anything if you give me pizza or chocolate.
