Living in L.A. with his best friend was Sam Golbach's dream. They had their own apartment and their social media fame was sky rocketing. Days like today were the ones that were Sam's favorite though. It was just him and Colby lounging on the couch watching reruns of Rick and Morty. The sky was overcast, causing the unlit apartment to look even darker as Sam scooted closer to Colby for comfort, still fearing the loud noises thunderstorms caused. Colby subconsciously put an arm around Sam unknowingly calming the blonde.
This is what Sam loved the most. The little signs of comfort that Colby gave him, the caring thoughts and actions of his best friend. From the first time he held Sam at the age of ten during a thunderstorm to now Colby was always there for him and he couldn't have asked for a better friend, "We should probably light some candles, it looks like a big storm is heading in." Colby muttered as he turned of the T.V and turned towards the blonde. Both the boy's hearts pounded in their chests and both of them ignored it. Shoving down words that have threatened to escape like, ' You look good today.' and 'I think I love you.' Sam nodded as Colby got up to get some candles and a lighter. In the distance thunder rumbled causing Sam to slightly jump.
Sam was embarrassed that at 20 years old he was still scared of storms but Colby never once made fun of him for it. The blonde wish he was back to being ten then maybe he wouldn't be so embarrassed but he had no such luck. Colby quickly set down four small white candles, lighting them quickly as more thunder crashed and lightning lit up the room. Colby looked over to see Sam shaking, holding his arms out. He resisted the urge to awe as Sam crawled into them,
"Remember when we were ten and I was too afraid to admit that I was afraid of storms?" Sam mumbled into the brunette's chest as he played with the hem of the other's shirt. Colby's face was flushed with the close contact, as he silently urged his heart to stop beating so loud,
"Yeah I do. I think I remember you hiding in a pile of blankets and tried to create a failed pillow wall." Colby chuckled, as Sam nodded in remembrance, "I think you also promised that you would always protect me from the thunder." Sam responded as Colby's arms tightened around him, "Yeah and it looks like I have kept that promise." The brunette boasted with a small smile on his face.
Both boys thought back to the day they were ten, the first time they held one another. Memories replayed in both of their heads each of them choosing to ignore the new feelings budding in their chests.
