Everyone but Sam knew today was the day. It started with breakfast in bed, and a long walk along the shoreline at the beach. It was now time for just the two of them to go to there reservation. Colby could feel the ring box weigh his pant pocket down, he could feel his heart racing and his stomach was in knots. Even in age 30 Sam still made him feel like a hormonal teenage boy. He truly loved the blonde boy and couldn't wait to spend their lives together.
Sam walked hand in hand with Colby as they entered the restaurant, both lost in their own thoughts of love and butterflies. As the waiter sat them down they could see the love clearly in the air around the two. Champagne, a lovely meal, and dessert came and went quickly, never once did Colby's or Sam's smile fall off their lips. Both of them were blissfully happy, they couldn't have asked for a better night.
The whole room got quiet when Colby got down on one knee. No homophobic slurs were called nor was there one person looking at them in hate, instead the room watched in awe. Everyone knew the two would end up rejoicing together because they were clearly in love. Blush erupted on Sam's cheeks as Colby started his prepared speech,
"I remember the first day we became friends, we played with dinosaurs and filled the house with our laughter. I remember when I held you tight for the first time as a thunderstorm passed over head, my heart was a fluttering mess. I remember the swirl of my stomach and the skipped beats of my heart every time I looked at you growing up. You have been with me through thick and thin. You're my best friend, and my first and last love. So Samuel Golbach will you do you me the favor and stick with me through the years and marry me?" Sam didn't miss a beat as he jumped up to pull Colby into a hug screaming and happily crying, "Yes! Of course!"
The whole room clapped and some tears were shed by strangers because it was one of the most beautiful scenes they had seen. The two boys didn't hear their congratulations or the clapping, the whole world seemed to fade. It was only them, and their love that mattered in that moment. They were going to marry each other and live forever together.
