The night was cold and the streetlights shined in the dark night. The moon was the only source of life in the sky. I walked along the sidewalk, groceries in hand that's when I heard it, the long piercing scream. It couldn't have been human, the scream pierced the air and almost made my ears bleed. I ran to help whoever it was screaming, I ran down the alleyway where it was pitch black but there was no one there. I looked over my shoulder and saw something glisten in the moonlit corner. I slowly walked over to find a necklace. It was beautiful yet frightening, the chain was burning hot, the jewel in the middle a dark luminous purple, with black swarming inside. I stare at the haunting necklace, I wrap my fingers around the gem and you could never imagine what i felt.... I felt a pulse.

I felt this aura fly through my bones, my whole body felt relaxed and tired. I felt as if I could abandon my soul right then and there. As if in perfect unison, the aura was pushed away and pure feelings washed over me wrapped the necklace over my head and let it rest on my chest. I picked up my recently dropped groceries and let my feet move to my apartment complex, I carried myself to the elevator that took me to my floor. My keys jingled, trying to unlock the front door to my cheap apartment. I flipped on the lightswitch and set the groceries on the counter, before putting them each away. The room was full of bright colors to match my perky personality.

"I'm home." I said to no one.

I plopped down on my bed, and stared at the ceiling, My hand twisting and playing with my new necklace. I don't know why, but I had to make sure no one took this necklace from me, like I was meant to protect this necklace, or maybe i've been reading too many fictional books. I sighed and rolled onto my stomach, I watched the black chase the purple in the diamond shaped gem. I went to unclip the necklace to go to sleep, I thought better of it and snuggled into my pillow, the necklace still around my neck. I will protect you.
