The sun was bright through my curtains, I rolled out of bed and fell on the floor. Ow. I felt something heavy around my neck and saw the necklace once again, I forgot about you. I don't know why I love the necklace so much. I could be stuck in a Lord Of The Rings, Gollum phase. But those were books. Sometimes I wish reality and fiction could be combined; although, I tend to live in both. I read way too many books for my own good and I get really caught up in movies. Maybe I should introduce myself to the necklace, no that's insane, or is it? Maybe it wants to talk to me, what if I am special?! I slap my hand against my forehead and flop back down on the bed. I've spent too many days trying to move the television remote with my mind to know I don't have magic abilities.

I threw on some clothes, and made sure I had my Pre Calculus homework done. Oh, I didn't tell you did I, i'm a Junior at Harkmen High School. I'm always called innocent which is kinda annoying, but I guess that makes sense with the way I look and act. I have dark brown curly hair that stops at the middle of my back, i'm pretty short, and I have hazel eyes, my nose is also dusted with freckles. "Your long lashes are the cutest." My friend gives me that compliment almost everyday. Speak of the devil, the door gets knocked on then Lucky lets herself in.

"Hey long lashes, ready to go?" She called from the kitchen, helping herself to my bagel. I rolled my eyes, and grabbed my backpack.

"Let's go." We walked out my apartment on our way to Harkmen.

"What's that thing around your neck?" Lucky asked, leaning back in her chair.

"It's a necklace I found. I bet you it has magical powers!" I said moving my fingers around weirdly to emphasize magic.

"Uh huh. Okay, sure." I rolled my eyes and tugged at the necklace. I hadn't taken it off since last night. What if I lost it? Would it matter so much? Why did I love it so much? Questions swirled around my head and I threw my head down on my desk. OW! I rubbed my forehead and sighed. How could someone as awkward and clumsy as me even think for a second I was magical. Me. Sierra Adalanche. I was a lousy daydreamer kind of person. I guess all i ever hoped for was simply, action, adventure. A thing to look forward to in the morning beside pretzels for lunch.

I was so relaxed, eyes shut, drooling on the desk. But of course right when I was about to slay the dragon of Dromalchrah, I was woken up to answer a stupid math question.

"Ahem," Mr.Kaufer stood at my desk, his glasses sliding down the bridge of his nose

"Umm, what was the question?" I asked blushing, embarrassed of the negative attention.

"Its 17!" I said shooting my fist in the air, claiming victory

"Wrong. it's 18, stay awake in my class, Miss Adalanche." he said blankly. I just picture the world going up into flames. Wow, so much for saving the world. I lay my head back down on my desk, heading back to dreamland.

I kicked the rocks on my way, walking home.

"Good job in class today." Lucky chuckled.

"Yeah, the whole world went up in flames! GOOD JOB ME!" I tug on my braid that rested on my shoulder, ignoring the puzzled look on Lucky's face. Lucky burst out laughing and held her stomach,

"You are so random it worries me. Hey, are you alright walking home by yourself."

"Yeah, let's just hope I don't blow up the world again. I'm never gonna let that go."

"I can see that. I'll text you later, I have to meet up with..someone." Lucky blushed.

"WHO'S THE LUCKY LAD?!"

"For using my name as a convenient pun, I refuse to tell you. Bye!", Lucky said before taking off.

" LAME!", I shouted as she took off. I tugged on my braid and frowned. The walk home was boring without Lucky, who else was I supposed to tell my failure of a superhero story to?!

"Can something interesting please happen?!" I shouted. Right on cue, a light knocked me off my feet. I slide across the sidewalk and landed on my back. My necklace shook slightly and I looked at the blinding light.

My back ached, and i'm pretty sure i'm bleeding. The blinding light faded and a blonde haired man walked up to me.

"Are you alright? I'm sorry, I had a rough landing."

"Yeah, right. Rough landing. From where exactly?" He gave me an angelic smile, HOLY FREAK WHAT IF HE IS AN ANGEL?! What am I talking about?

"My name is Maldonious.",he looked down at my chest where my necklaced rested.

"WHOA BACK UP," I said covering my chest, getting the wrong idea. "I KNOW TIQUANDO!" He rose his eyebrows in question, but didn't ask what I was talking about.

"That necklace. I need it." He held out his hand expecting me to give it to him.

"Snooze you lose." I turned to walk away. His friendly smile faded and he grabbed my arm. OH GOSH, WAS THIS GOING TO BE LIKE ONE OF THOSE ACTION SCENES WHERE I KICK SOME VILLAIN BUTT?! I glared at his hand then up at him,

"Let go."

"As an angel of the lord, I can not use force unless you have sinned immensely. Give the necklace. There is a demon that you as a human can not control. If you wish to be safe, give it now." My eyes traveled to my necklace. Angel? Demon? Was this guy insane? It wasn't until now that I noticed his golden armor and the long cloud like wings that were twice his size. I could call him crazy, run away. Maybe it's my love for books or my open heart but, I really had believed him. I pulled my arm away.

" You call it a demon, but you should never judge a book by it's title. Leave both of us alone."

"They will come after you. You have defied the angels. Is that what you want?" I glared at him and the angel sighed. Another light flashed and the ground shook. I fell to me knees again. Then just like that, the light and presence were gone and I was left with only my necklace. I hung my head and sighed. My whole body shook with terror. I held the necklace in my palm and stared at it.

"I know you are in there. You can come out now."
