Chapter 12~ Nothing will change my mind

I already had an argument with my dad about me helping on this mission. He didn't want me to go, but I told him I'm almost twenty years old, and I can make my own decisions , even if it means risking my life.

"Are you sure you're ready, Charlie?" Steve asks me while we're waiting.

"Yeah. I'm ready." I say loading my guns up and putting a few extra bullets in a case.

"Cause, you don't have to fight." Steve says looking at me.

"Yes, I do." I say.

"You know, you could die right? All of us could." He says sitting down next to me.

"I know. They made that pretty clear to me, when I became an agent." I said.

"But you don't need to fight, you can sit this one out." He says and I look up at him with my eyebrows furrowed. "Why are you trying to keep me from fighting, Steve?"

"Because I don't want to lose you." He says looking at me.

"Steve, listen, I could lose you too. But I'm still going out there. Nothing you say will change my mind about fighting."

He sighs and looks down, "You are stubborn. But you have to stay close to me, okay?"

"Fine." I say and get up from where I was sitting,.

Natasha tells my dad we made it, and he makes a smart remark, "Did you stop for drive-through?"

"Go south of the park and I'll lay them out for you." He says.

We get to where he told us to be and we start shooting at, whatever those creatures were.

"Change your mind yet?" Steve asks.

"Nope."I say as I put my ear piece in.

We see Loki and Thor hashing it out on Stark Tower, and Nat and Clint decide to shoot at Loki, but he shot us out of the air. Steve and I grab onto the handles, and try to keep up on our feet.

We fall to the ground, and walk out of the jet.

"We got to get back up there." Steve says, and we all begin to sprint towards Stark Tower. We hear a great rumble, and we all stop to look up. The creatures were coming out of the portal, and a great big monster following behind them. "Holy cow." I say. The big monster thing flys right past our faces and we watch it. I grab my bow and got ready. More of the creatures came out of the big monster flying thing, and started sliding down buildings, and going into them.

"Stark you seeing this?" Steve says through the comm.

"Seeing. Still working on believing." My dad answers. "Where's Banner? Has he shown up yet?"

"Banner?" Steve asks.

"Just keep me posted." He said.

We get by a taxi and kneeled down.

"We've got civilians trapped in a bus."

And we see Loki speed past us on one of those chariot things, "Loki." Steve says.

We turn and those things are shooting at everything, and making explosions.

"They're fish in a barrel down there. " Steve says. Then a big blue blast shoots right next to mine and Steve's face, and Romanoff starts shootimg her guns at the thing.

"We've got this you two go." Natasha says.

"Do you think you can hold them off?" Steve asked them.

"Captain,it would be my genuine pleasure." Clint says, as he shoots the creatures in the face.

"Come on Charlie." I go with Steve and we start running. I sldie my bow back into its place and grab my gun, sicne I'm not shooting at a far distance. We jump over a few cars, I'm glad I trained for this type of thing, even though a year ago, I didn't think this would ever happen.

I cover Steve from behind while we were running. Steve and I run to where the police officers were standing at.

"You need men in these buildings. There are people inside and right in the line of fire. You take them to the basements or to the ubway keep them off of the streets. i needa perimeter as far as 99th." Steve says.

"Why in the hell should I take orders from you two?" He says.

Right after he said that there was an explosion behind us, and two of those alien things were behind us. Steve throws his shield, adn i shot one square in the face.

"I need men in those buildings , Lead the people down and away from the street. We're going to set up a perimeter as far back as 99th." The officer says. We continue to fight off these things, i run out of ammo, and i grab my other gun. We get over to Clint and Natasha and help them with their guys. then Thor comes down and hits some of them with a bolt of electricity.

"What;'s going on up there?" I ask Thor.

"The power surrounding the cube isn't penetratable." He says.

"Thir is right, we gotta deal with these guys." My dad says throught the comm.

"How do we do this?" Natasha asks.

"As a team." Steve answers.

" I have unfinished business with Loki." Thor says.

"Save it. Loki's going to keep his focus on us and that's what we need. Without him, these things could run wild. We got Stark up top. He going to need us-"

We hear an engine behind us and we turn around. It's Bruce.
