After what seemed to be some peaceful couple of days it finally came to an end when a sudden call assigned Division 1 to a location where a monstrous object was found. It turned out to be a dead corpse shaped into a morbid art exhibition, which was placed on a public place underneath a holographic water fountain. The place has already been restricted for normal people when Division 1 arrived but once confirmation on the corpse; it became an official case in their hands. Just above the hole where the twisted body arm was found, stood Ginoza, Tsunemori, Kogami and Shinra in that order horizontally. They all looked down at the scene, some with more intensity in their eyes than others. Tsunemori appeared troubled and surprised by the sight while the other two male seemed to be their usual selves. The air felt tense for a reason but soon enough the answer appeared to the light when Ginoza finally breaks the silence.
"I'm taking you off this case, Kogami." Ginoza states all of the sudden and without any hesitation.
Tsunemori gasps quietly in surprise while turning towards Ginoza. "Huh?" Was her instant reaction while looking at the Senior Inspector puzzled.
Shinra's arms crossed before her chest just as a heavy sigh left her lips quietly. She didn't appear all that surprised by Ginoza's sudden declaration.
"Are you serious... why?" Kogami's serious face turns to glance at Ginoza as he asked for his reasons.
Shinra eyes remained on the morbid sight of the body art below before for a while longer before she finally turns to look at Ginoza, just listening quietly.
Ginoza faces Kogami before he speaks. "I can't allow a detective who can't put aside his preconceived notions to be part of the initial investigation." He answers with his usual serious face and speech but he felt more stern than usual.
Tsunemori who stared at Ginoza while still wearing a confused expression, quickly speaks up. "Even so...we still don't know if this is connected to the Specimen Case." She blurted out by accident that knowledge but as she noticed what she just said, she instantly gasped while covering her mouth turning to stare down at the floor a bit flustered.
The two males and Shinra turned to look at Tsunemori for a moment but then Kogami took half step to the side as if he were going to leave but before he did, he faced Ginoza again. "So I'm on standby at my quarters, right?" Kogami casually asked at his superior, not seeming too troubled by Tsunemori's statement but it was hard to tell what was going through his head now.
"That's right." Ginoza answered immediately.
Tsunemori lowered her hands while she turned to watch how Kogami turned around fully and begun walking off without another word. She seemed to want to say something but at the end, she didn't.
Shinra eyes followed Kogami's figure for a second from the corner of her eye but then looked at Tsunemori who by now she had grown familiarized with her since their talk at the Gym. Even had gone out to hang one day when they both had spare time on the past weeks.
"Inspector Tsunemori." Ginoza calls her colleague's attention.
This made Tsunemori turn quickly to Ginoza while she slightly flustered answered. "Y-Yes!"
Ginoza looked to her as he spoke in a calm yet serious/polite way, as usual. "It seems that you're aware of the circumstances. Watch Kogami at all times to make sure that he won't do anything stupid. That's your job in this case." He instructs.
Tsunemori seemed a little unpleased by his sudden orders but she ended agreeing without complaint. "Yes sir."
Shinra observed the two before her eyes trailed off to where the corpse remained. She had to admit this was pretty similar to the Specimen Case, but for some reason she felt as something was amiss. She quickly pushed those thoughts away for the time, preferring to not jump the gun here.
