"I really like you.... no, I love you." He said. His warm breath made my neck tingle. I slightly moved away from him and looked into his eyes. "I've actually.... been waiting for you to say that." I said nervously."I would have said it sooner, but I didn't know how. The perfect moment
Just never came up." he replied. Before I could say anything, our lips met. We were only around fourteen years old, so it wasn't that long.
We pulled away and smiled. He put his arm around my shoulder, and we walked to Maggie's cell.
"Oh hey guys." Maggie said. she looked at his arm and smirked. "We just want to thank you. well... I wanted to thank you." I said.
"For what?" she asked. "For telling me that Carl actually did like me." I replied. "It was the truth, so I thought you should have known." she said with a smile.
Carl waved goodbye, and we walked away. "That was awkward." he said. "why?" I asked. "Because I just stood there like I didn't know what was going on." he replied. "haha ok." I said chuckling.
We started walking outside. "Where would you be if you weren't here?" He asked. "I'd probably be dead." I honestly told him. "no you wouldn't." he said while shaking his head.
"I'd probably starve to death." I said. "You could go on a supply run, and look for food." he said. "Yeah, but I'd get eaten." I said while moving a strand of my hair behind my ear.
We walked in a relaxing silence until I ruined it. "thank you." I said. "you sure do thank people a lot..." he said.
"Yeah I do, but it's only because I really think they deserve it." I replied. "why do I deserve to be thanked?" he asked.
"Because you believed in me when no one else did. Your dad didn't think I was strong enough to go on the supply run, but you did. No one believed I could kill the walkers... I didn't even believe in myself. But you told me I could do it." I said with a thankful smile.
"I only believed in you, because I knew you could actually do it." he said while giving me a hug. I wrapped my arms around him, not squeezing too tight.
I have him a light kiss on his cheek as we parted. "you know what I've been craving?" I said "no, but do you know what I've been craving?" he asked.
"I've been craving ice cream. What have you been craving?" I asked. "candy." he replied. "We definitely aren't kids anymore. We haven't had sweets for over 3 years." I said.
"We really aren't, but there's nothing we can do about it." he said. A second later he pointed to the fence.
It was falling over. The walkers were leaning against it. "what do we do?!?" I screamed. "get the poles with the sharp ends!" he screamed back.
We ran to the past the garden to the fence. He handed me one of the poles, and we started to stab the heads of the walkers.
"We need someone to help us!" I yelled. "You go get help, I'll stay here." he said. "No Carl, you can't do this on your own." I said while stabbing a walker that was wearing a long dress.
"CARTER, CARL!!!" Rick screamed. I handed him a pole. "Go get help!" Carl told me.
I ran as fast as I could into the prison. "Daryl! Maggie! Michonne!" I screamed. Daryl came running towards me. "C'mon!" I said while beckoning for him to follow.
By the time we got to the fence, it had already fallen over. "Where's Rick and Carl?" I thought to myself.
I looked behind me, and saw them with guns. "We tried to keep the fence up so we wouldn't attract the walkers with our guns. It fell over and we had no choice." said Rick.
I looked at the bodies that were everywhere. "how are we gonna get the fence back up?" I asked.
"Rick and I will worry about that." Daryl said while rubbing his forehead. Maggie and Michonne walked out of the prison and started talking to Rick and Daryl.
Carl and I held hands while walking back inside. "I'm sorry I didn't help-" I started to say. "You did what you had to do." He said reassuringly.
I gave him a weak smile as he pulled me into a hug. I know I could have helped prevent the fence from falling.
