I fiddled with a tear in my shorts. My mother driving down a long, eery road. My, father, conversing with my mother about the house.
" Liah, I think your gonna like the school, they have cheerleading just like you wanted. I think the mascot was, the pigs, right?"
" The Boars, mom, pigs are too mainstream."
She playfully rolled her eyes at me as my dad began to talk to her about the new backyard and how big it was.
I dug out my headphones from my mini bag and shuffled them out of the loose knots they were in.
" Liah, no need for headphones, were here."' My father, peered to me.
I peered out of the backseat window and looked at the house. It was just how I remembered it when I last saw it in the paper. The brown cheiseled roof that hung over the porch. The Yellowish creme color that stuck out like a sore thumb, The double garage.
" The headphones are for the gasping and wonder I'm gonna hear from you and dad for the next 7 hours." I quickly plugged them in and put each one in my ears.
Hours went by as I scrambled back and forth from the Movers truck, pulling all my heavy boxes to my new room.
Exhausted, I put my head on my teal pillow, and looked up at the ceiling.
I heard a knock at my door, and immediately it opened. I sat myself up to lean on my pillow, looking presentable, and not at all lazy.
" Uh, hey, one of your old friends from when you were younger is coming over tomorrow, Anna Williams? So you can have at least one friend when you go to school Monday. "
My dad rubbed his hand on the door pain, admiring the peach coloring as he spoke.
" Oh, uh- yeah thats cool." I flattened out my flannel.
He smiled at me, then walked out the door.
I got up out of bed and put on a comfortable T-shirt, along with some boxer briefs. I looked in the mirror. my hair has seemed to fade to a dark brown color. I like it.

I woke up around noon, the sounds of my parents downstairs woke me up. I yawned, then got out of bed to start my day.
I put on a navy green sweater, with denim jeans.
I ran my fingers through my hair. After about 10 minutes of applying makeup, brushing my teeth, and fixing my hair to look presentable, I walked downstairs. My mom, sitting at the dining table, looked over at me.
" Good, your awake. Anna wants to meet you at Russell's, you should head over there now. "
" Uh, who's Russell?" I raised an eyebrow.
" Not who, silly. Russell's is a coffee shop down the street. Right by the bakery. Take a left, then turn into CreekMare, you can't miss it."
I grabbed my wallet and stuffed it into my mini book bag, and headed out the door.
----
I peered through the glass window and saw a girl who was wearing a black sweater, some shorts, and her blonde hair in a side ponytail. It looked like Anna, just older.
I walked into the shop and made my way over to the table she was sitting at.
" Uh, Anna? Anna Williams?"
She looked up from her phone and smiled.
" Hey Liah. Long time no see. Good to see you!"
She got up from her seat and motioned me to wait in line with her.
There was a boy in front of us who was standing a bit too close. He ran his fingers through his caramel colored hair, not paying any attention to the space between us.
The boy turned to look at me, and raised an eyebrow. He turned back around, headed for the counter.
I looked at Anna in shock.
He took his coffee from the counter and made his way to a table at the far end of the shop.
" What the hell was that about?"
She laughed.
" Thats Greyson. Greyson Jones. He goes to Prydence Beach High school with us. He's you typical b-"
" What can I get you ladies today?" The man at the register asked, his name tag read, Max."
" Bad boy. Hes your typical bad boy. Um, can I get a hot chocolate?"
He looked at me, waiting for my order.
" Um, a green tea with lemon please."
" Coming right up, that will be 6.84." Max replied.
Anna handed him a 10$ bill, and he gave her back change.
I sat back down at the table she picked out.I began playing with the strands of hair that fell over my shoulders.
" So, how um- how have things been? What are you into these days?" Anna asked, waiting for my reply.
I looked up at her. still twirling my hair around my pointer finger.
" Um, I like reading. Not really much of a beach person. I guess ill try and find a hobby job at a bookstore or something. What about you?"
" Well, I work at this really nice rockcliming center close to the school. Im really into sports. Its nice to finally connect with someone from my past, must be nice for you too."
The waiter called out out number,
and Anna got up to get our drinks, she sat back down and slid mine over to me.I took a sip as I listened to her talking about the school and what to expect.
" Prydence Beach High School doesn't really have cliques, everybody kinda knows everybody. Kinda like one big family."
I smirked at her, it felt amazing to have someone to guide me through this whole process, even if we were just connecting for the first time in 10 years.
I tilted my head to the side, noticing that the canny boy who was in line infront of us was staring at me. I stared back, making the whole situation awkward. When in doubt, wink it out.
I winked at him and slightly smiled, hoping that was enough for him to stop staring, but that only made it worse. Anna looked at me, weirded out at the fact I was having a staring contest with the boy sitting 3 tables away. I finally stopped and turned back around, taking a sip of my drink like Nothing happened.
" Um, what the hell was that?" Shock and laughter filled her voice.
" Oh, I don't know, nothing I guess." I took another sip of my drink. Realizing the time, we decided to head back home.
" Thanks, for this. We should do it again sometime." I spoke as I gave her a hug.
" Yeah, we should. Well, tomorrows Sunday, Maybe monday after school we could go to the mall? Sundays I go to my Grandma's house."
Saying Grandma itched my skin and stung my heart. My Grandma was murdered in her retirement home about 8 months ago. They never caught the man, sadly. Thats one of the reasons we moved here.
I nodded slightly and shut the passenger door. I waved goodbye and walked inside my home.
My mom was on the couch on the computer.
" Hi. How was it?" She looked up from her computer screen.
" It was fun. We talked alot about the school. It was great actually."
" Well thats good, great! You should get some rest. Tomorrow im taking you to Berklies. Its a bookstore I found on the way to the bank. Were leaving at nine in the morning, cause after that I have to go to the bank again and train for my new job."
She began typing again on her computer. I nodded and walked upstairs.
I put my book bag on the side of my dresser, and hopped in the shower. I kept thinking about the guy named Greyson, how mysteriously creepy yet attractive he looked. It was like he was reading me, Figuring me out. I washed my face and grabbed the towel hanging on the door.
