A ring of your doorbell roused you from the homework you were trying to complete. Knowing it could only be one person, you perked up and hopped off your bed, almost running down the stairs. You saw your boyfriend standing in front of the door and opened it. He was smiling, but you could tell something was on his mind. You let him inside.

You and Jensen were high school sweethearts. He knew he liked you the moment he laid eyes on you, and had finally mustered up the courage to ask you out sophomore year. He was your world, and you were his. Now you were about to graduate and hopefully spend the rest of your life together. You loved him with all your heart, and you knew that he was the one for you.

"Hey sweetheart!" He said happily, lifting you up in the air as he kissed you. You looked into his eyes "So, what's got you so excited?" You asked him, eager to hear an answer. "Well," he started "You know how I auditioned for that big acting part?"  You nodded attentively "I got it!" He exclaimed

Your jaw dropped as you hoorayed him "Babe! I knew you'd get it!" You told him, kissing his face all over. "Yeah it's great..." he started "But?" You asked, knowing he was going to say something else. "But, they film on the west coast, and I have to go right after graduation." He saw your expression drop "Okay, well...I'll just come with you!" You told him, trying to find a solution to this new problem. You had imagined almost a hundred different ways your future could go, but they all involved Jensen. Those dreams seemed awfully far away now.

"Y/N you can't. You got accepted to college at Princeton,  I can't let you derail your future because of me." He sighed. You stayed silent as you really thought about all of this. Tears welled up in your eyes. "But we have to find out a way to make it work..." you mumbled "We have to" the tears streamed down your face as Jensen pulled you into a hug, stroking your hair and whispering words of reassurance to you. "It'll be okay, sweetheart. We'll be okay." You looked up at him, and noticed his eyes starting to water. "Do we have to break up?" You dared to ask. He looked into your eyes deeply with his, conveying the worst possible answer without even saying anything. "But I'll always love you, forever and always." He told you sternly to make sure you understood. He took your head between his hands and kissed you passionately.

You parted to speak "I want to be with you, one last time." You mumbled between sobs. He understood what you were implying, leading you to the couch before laying you down softly. He kissed you sadly as you both made love to each other for the last time.

Graduation day came, and only a couple days after, Dean left for Los Angeles. You two had one final kiss before he drove off, and you saw your future fall to pieces right before your eyes.

Only a couple weeks later, you were standing in the bathroom with your hand over your mouth, staring at the little plus mark on your pregnancy test.

7 years later

"C'mon Ross!" You said, swinging your little six year old boy out of the car playfully. He laughed, his candy apple green eyes watching you. He looked exactly like Jensen, and every time you looked at your son's face you could see him.

"I like this new place, mommy!" Ross said eclectically as the looked at the towering palm trees. You'd finally decided to move to LA. You'd completed college with the help of your family, who took care of Ross when you couldn't.

"Me too, sweetie. Now we have to go to the store so mommy can make dinner at the new place. Is that okay?" He nodded as you set him down and walked into the grocery store.

You grabbed a cart as Ross tugged on your jacket "Can we get ice cream for after dinner?" He asked innocently. You smiled down at your little boy and grabbed his hand "Of course, buddy."

After shopping for a while, Ross dragged you to the ice cream aisle. You chuckled "Slow down, speed racer." You said, tickling him. "Mommy, stop!" He giggled. You stopped when you heard a familiar laugh. Your eyes moved slowly from your son to the two couples ahead of you.

The man had his back to you, but you could swear you recognized every part of him. Ross looked up at you "Mommy, are you okay?" He asked. "Yeah baby," you told him "I just think I see an old friend." You smiled faintly "Go up to them, mommy." He told you. Before you could, the man turned around. You both froze as your eyes locked onto each other. "Jensen..." you whispered.

You turned around quickly, ushering your boy ahead of you "You know what, Ross? I think we should just-"

"Y/N?" The all to familiar voice made you stop once more. You turned around slowly. You stared at the aged face of the boy you used to know. The three people behind him muttered among themselves, probably confused about how he knew you. He crossed the aisle towards you "Jensen." You whispered again, more breathless than the last time. Tears welled up in your eyes as he pulled you into a huge hug. "I can't believe you're here." He said into the crook of your neck. "We just moved" you explained to him.

You parted finally, allowing your son to slink in front of you. Your stomach churned as you remembered you never told Jensen about his son. "Who's this little guy?" He asked, wiping his tear stained cheeks. "I'm Ross!" He smiled at Jensen. "And how old are you, Ross?" he asked him curiously "Six!" Ross answered. Jensen seemed to immediately make the connection as he looked from Ross to you. "Ross is my middle name... six years old...." he mumbles to himself. He looked into your eyes seriously. You looked back at him "Oh my god..." he mouths, realizing Ross is his son.

The people he was with walked towards him. One of them snaked her arm around him. "Who's this, babe?" She asked. Jensen snapped out of his daze and introduced you two "Y/N, this is my wife, Danneel. Danneel this is Y/N, the one I told you about." She smiled at you "It's nice to finally meet you, I knew you and Jensen were close."  You nodded "Yeah, we were."

He introduced you to the two others, his friend Jared and Jared's wife Genevieve. The other three said they were going to continue shopping as Jensen asked for a minute to talk to you.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked you almost angrily, talking low enough that Ross couldn't hear. "You left, Jensen. I didn't want to hold you back, because you sure as hell knew you would've stayed if I told you about him." He looked down at the six year old, who was playing with a toy from his pocket. "That wasn't your decision to make, Y/N! I have the right to know about my son!" You sighed, choking up as you started crying again "I wanted more than anything for us to be a family, but I needed to let you go." You  chuckled "Look at you now. You have a beautiful wife, and soon you'll have a family of your own." You smiled sadly "This is how it was meant to be." He sighed, hating that somehow you were right "I just...I just wished I could've been there for you."

You lifted his chin up slightly and he smiled faintly towards you. "You should probably be getting back to your friends," you started "If you want to be a part of Ross' life, you can." He lit up a little bit "Since we live here now, he can get to know you more. And maybe one day, when the time is right, he'll know who you really are." He smiled wider now, but still didn't say anything. "He has your eyes, you know." You told him as you looked down at your son. You wrote down your phone number and gave it to him.

He suddenly pulled you into a tight hug "I love you Y/N," he stated "And I always will." You grinned as he let go "I love you too." You whispered "I'll see you later." He said before walking away.

Ross tugged at your jacket again "Can we get ice cream now?" He asked before looking at you "Mommy, why are you crying?" You crouched down to him and kissed him on the cheek "I'm okay, Ross. Mommy just loves her friend very much." You reassured him. He nodded in understanding "Will he come over to our new house?" He asked "You bet he will," You responded before getting up and pushing the cart "Now let's go get you that ice cream."
