Dean x angel!reader

"Y/N..." you hear a voice call out over angel radio. It sounded like your friend Castiel "Y/N, if you're out there I need your help. I'm with the Winchesters, we're trapped by demons." You tuned in immediately "Cas, I'm here. Give me your location, brother." He did, and you immediately transported yourself to where he was being held.

The building was small and dark, looking like the usual demon lair. You slid the demon blade from your long, black coat and skulked around for any sign of Cas or the Winchesters. You found them eventually, and snuck up behind the demon who was holding them captive. A warm flash of light spread around the room as your wings flapped open, revealing them to the demon and Cas...or so you thought. You'd blinded the demon just enough to slip your blade into her stomach, killing her instantly. "Thank you, Y/N." Castiel spoke as you broke their shackles. "Yeah, thanks." The taller one, Sam added on "I knew you'd be trustworthy if Cas trusted you." You nodded at both of them "No problem." You then turned your line of sight to the shorter Winchester, who seemed so incredibly stunned, but at what you didn't know.

"Dean, are you okay?" Cas asked in a curious tone. Dean nodded his head as he snapped back into reality. "Y/N, your wings are......they're amazing." He told you, still sounding shocked. "Her wings?" Sam asked "What wings?" Dean turned to him, then back to you "You can't see them?" He asked Sam confusedly "They're huge!" His brother shook his head, and Castiel turned to you then back. "Dean," he started "Usually when a human sees an angel's wings, it's only because they're the angel's-"

"-soulmate." You finished, studying Dean. "Soulmate?" He asked "What does that even mean?" You stepped closer to him, still looking at his face "We're meant to be together, somehow. It's destiny." Dean still looked confused "Dean doesn't believe in destin-" Sam started

"Shut up, Sammy." Dean told his little brother, urging you to continue. "I don't know much about soulmates, but maybe we could try to find some information on them, and meanwhile I can help you on hunts like Castiel does."

Dean looked at Sam, who shrugged indecisively "Hell, why not." He concluded.

--

"It says here that soulmates are more often than not romantically connected." You read out matter-of-factly. You didn't think anything of it, even when Sam raised an eyebrow in his brother's direction, which earned him a death glare back.

You'd been hunting with the Winchesters for the past couple weeks while you researched soulmates. You didn't mind hunting actually, it was mostly easy and took your mind off the war going on in heaven. You had to be in hiding, being the target of some radicalist angel group who wanted you dead, and no one would expect you to be with the Winchesters.

You started feeling strange feelings for Dean, ones you didn't feel for Sam or Castiel, or anyone really. You wondered if this was the romantic connection the books talked about. Dean was awfully attractive, and funny, and more kind to you than any human ever has been. Surely it couldn't be romantic feelings though. Angels weren't supposed to feel those kinds of things, especially not for humans. But you and Dean were meant to be together. You knew you would do anything to protect him- that was your job, but there was still more you felt, a....longing.

A couple days later, you picked up a strange case the next town over from you. It didn't feel right, but the brothers insisted you all go check it out. You did the routine: packed up, drove into town, rented a place, and started researching. "I'm not entirely sure what this is, but it seems to be similar to an angel or a demon." Sam spoke up "A godly creature?" Dean asked, his brother shrugged in response. "But luckily, I know right where it is, I say we go check it out and bring everything we think can kill it." His brother hesitated before nodding "Load up the car, let's go everyone." He said, rounding you and Cas up as Sam went to prepare. "Dean are you sure this is safe? I don't have a good feeling about this." You asked him worriedly. He smiled at you "It's fine, Y/N."

You were soon in the small, vacant, home that Sam had pinpointed the creature's location to. The Winchesters broke down the door before nodding at each other and heading their separate ways. Sam took downstairs and Dean headed to the second floor. You and Cas followed suit, checking behind closed doors and coming up empty. "Dean, do you see anything?" Sam yelled towards the top floor "No, noth-" Deans voice was cut off my a loud thud. Your heart quickened as you teleported upstairs, Sam running after you. "Dean!" You shouted when you saw him on the floor. He looked up at you, then next to you. You followed his line of vision back to a tall man, who you instantly recognized.

"We couldn't find you for so long, Y/N. I was beginning to think you'd truly disappeared." He said with an evil grin. It was the angels, or one of them, that you'd been hiding from. He pulled Dean up from the ground without even touching him "Stop!" You yelled at him as soon as he did. He looked even more amused "Have you got a thing for the Winchester?" He asked mockingly "You really are going soft, Y/N." Dean looked into your eyes, a confused and painful expression on his face.

Dean now stood next to you. The angel studied you both "Soulmates?" He mumbled thoughtfully "How sweet, too bad I'm going to have to kill you both." He snickered before racing towards Dean with a knife. You bolted in front of him, only stopping once you felt the blade puncture your stomach. "Y/N!" Dean yelled louder than he ever had before, stabbing the angel. He sat down and placed your head in his lap, pulling out the knife that was lodged in your body. He ripped off his shirt and wrapped it around the wound, tying it to try and stop blood flow. You looked up at the human man and smiled faintly. The light and grace were draining from your eyes as you felt the air slowly leaving your lungs "Stay with me, Y/N." he told you, letting a tear fall on your face. You brought a hand up to his face before caressing it slowly. Your lids felt heavy as you closed them "Cas!" Was the last thing you heard before your world went black

You woke up suddenly on something strangely soft. You looked around and realized you were on a bed, and you were back at the bunker. You looked down at your stomach, which was good as new, and then towards the other side of the room. "Dean." You croaked, realizing you probably hadn't spoken for a while due to being passed out. The man jumped up from his spot next to the door and ran over to you. "Y/N, Y/N." he repeated over and over, running his hands over your hair while tears rolled down his rosy cheeks. "Why the hell would you do that, Y/N? You could've died." He stated as he looked into your eyes. You smiled at him "It's my job to protect you, Dean. My life doesn't matter as long as it means you live."

Something changed in him, his hurt seemed to turn into a soft anger. He looked at you with a pained expression "Are you kidding me, Y/N. Your life does matter, and it matters a hell of a lot to me." You studied him, confusedly "What do you mean?" You could tell there was more he wanted to say. He shifted his position

"Even though it's only been a couple months, it's like I've known you my entire life. That's never happened before." He stopped, thinking for a second before continuing "And now that we're together, I don't know if I could go on living without you in my life." He looked you directly in the eyes now "I love you, Y/N. I loved you the moment I laid eyes on you, when you rescued us from those demons. We're soulmates, we're meant to be together."

You searched for a response "I've been having strange feelings for you, Dean. I feel....tingly when I'm around you. I don't know what this means, but I think I lo-" to were cut of as Dean's lips found their way into yours. You could almost feel the pain coming out of Dean's mouth as you melted into the kiss. You only realized you were crying when you felt his tears intermingle with your own.

After the kiss, he moved back slightly. You made room on the bed as he slipped into it, pulling you to his chest. "Don't do anything stupid like that again." He mumbled into your hair "I need you in my life."
