Fire works of every colour exploded behind the theatre. They sparkled in the dark night's air and descended delicately to the ground where a whole crowd gathered. Stunning carriages waited for their owners to descend from them with their remarkable costumes. People gathered just to watch the guest who entered the Opera Populaire.
The guests were all masked. The theme was a masquerade and the guests had gone full out to achieve it.
Both Lumier and Cogsworth bump into each other with smiles on their faces. Lumier was dressed as a golden candelabra while Cogsworth was dressed to be a wooden clock. Lumiere's mask resembled fire with its bold colours of red, gold, yellow and orange which swirled perfectly. Cogsworths masks resembled the parts within a clock. Both looked dashing.
"Monsieur Lumier? " Cogsworth asked, not recognising the man behind the mask.
"Monsieur Cogsworth?" He asked also not recognising the man that stood in front of him.
Both raise their masks and reveal each others identity. They chuckled to one another before they introduced the companions to the evening. Lumier being his partner, Plumette, and Cogsworth being his wife.
"Dear Cogsworth what a splendid party," Lumier stated as he turned to his companion and over looked at the happy guests who were entering the grand hall.
"The prologue to a bright new year!" Cogsworth stated as he smiled towards the happy guest and took a quick sip from the campaign he had hold of in his hand.
"Quite a night! I'm impressed!" Lumier stated as they began to walk around the ball room.
"Well, one does one's best," Cogswort stated with a smile.
Both turning to one another they raise their glasses to one another and bump them together delicately as they both say, "here's to us!"
"What a pity that the Phantom can't be here," Cogsworth sarcastically stated as he posed for the picture with his wife and his companion and his partner.
The grand ball room was lit with candles. Gold was key colour. The walls, statues, floor and ceiling were the colour of gold. The red drapes were the only other colour other than gold and white that was part of the room.
At the top of the staircase in the middle was a balcony which held the orchestra and Radcliff who overwatched the cast who stood in the middle waiting Radcliff to start the music. The music started and cast commenced. The dance began.
"Masquerade! Paper faces on parade. Masquerade! Hide your face, so the world will never find you!" The chorus sang all together while they danced in their costumes.
The costumes vary in many different animals and other topics that were responsible. There was a cockerel, a cow, a clown, a ballet, a peacock, a queen, an ace of hearts, highwayman.
"Masquerade! Every face a different shade. Masquerade! Look around -there's another mask behind you!" The Chorus sang yet again while they danced with their partners.
The guest watched from above, smiling and guessing the costumes some of the other guests were wearing.
"Flash of mauve. Splash of puce. Fool and king. Ghoul and goose. Green and black. Queen and priest. Trace of rouge. Face of beast. "
A pirate, a goose, a bat, a sugar skull, a scarecrow, a lion, a poodle, a black swan, a king, an angel.
"Faces. Take your turn, take a ride on the merry-go-round. In an inhuman race," the chorus sang together in perfect harmony.
