The Consequences

Madison's pov:It's night and I get dressed in my jogging clothes. I look out the window and it's pouring. Guess my night jog is cancelled. It's fine I guess. I go back to my room and get dressed in normal clothes. I hear a knock on the door and I go downstairs to answer it. I open it and see Shawn standing there soaking wet. "Shawn!" I say with a smile. I wrap him in a hug. He doesn't hug back. "What's wrong?" I ask concerned. "Can we talk?" He asks. "Yeah sure." I said. "You wanna come in?" I asked. "No I'm fine. Can we talk out here?" He asks. "Yeah." I said. I closed the door and stood in front of Shawn. "What's up?" I asked. "I cheated." He blurted out. "What?" I asked thinking I heard him wrong. "Madison I'm so sorry. I still love you" He said stepping closer. "Don't." I said backing up. "H- how wha- what did you do? Was it just a kiss?" I asked with tears running down my face. He looked down at the floor. "No." He said. "You didn't. Why would you do this to me?!" I yelled. "Madison I was drunk I didn't know what I was doing. I thought she was you." He said. "Yeah we'll she wasn't." I said. "Madison I'm sorry. I still love you." He said. "No if you did you wouldn't have done that." I said. I looked around and saw my neighbors on their porch watching. "I can't do this right now." I said. I ran off. "MADISON! WAIT." Yelled Shawn. I ignored him and kept running. I ran to a grassy hill where no trees were. I layed down and let the rain fall on my body. I was already soaked so I didn't care. I heard the grass crumbling under someone's foot. I got up and faced the direction of the noise. I saw Shawn standing there. "What are you doing here don't you have someone you want to cheat me with?" I asked wiping my tears. "Madison I'm so sorry." He said sitting down next to me. He put his arm around me and I leaned on him. "I can't do this anymore Shawn." I said. We pulled apart. "What are you saying Madison?" He asks. "I'm saying we can't be together. Shawn I want to love you but I can't." I said. Shawn's eyes filled up with tears. He took my hand. "I never wanted to hurt you Madison. I love you." He said. The rain came down harder. "But you did. Shawn you didn't want to but you did." I said pulling my hand out of his. I got up and started walking away. "Madison, please." He yelled after me. "NO SHAWN YOU CAN'T JUST COME HERE AND THINK EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT BECAUSE IT'S NOT. SHAWN YOU CHEATED ON ME THAT'S UNFORGIVABLE. YOU BROKE MY HEART!" I yelled. "DO YOU THINK I WANTED TO? CAUSE I DIDN'T." He yelled. "Shawn I know you didn't but that's not the point. You did and I can't forgive you for what you did." I said. "Go crawl back to her." I said. "Why are you getting so upset over this?" He asked. "BECAUSE YOU CHEATED SHAWN! You did and that hurts me because was I not enough for you?" I said with tears rolling down my cheeks. "Of course you were." He said. "Then why did you do that?" I asked and he stood quiet. I turned and walked back to my house. Shawn followed calling my name. I ignore him and I go inside but Shawn jumps through the door before I can close it.

I run up to my room and  lose and lock it before Shawn can get here. "Madison please let me in." He says. "GO AWAY! I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU RIGHT NOW!" I yell through the door. He hits the wall.

I throw my pillow at the door. "Madison open the door." He says. I grab the vase and the flowers he gave me when I was in the hospital and throw it at the door. It shatters. "GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!" I yell. "Mads I'm not leaving until we resolve this." He says. "Resolve what? How you cheated on me? Shawn that can't be resolved." I yell. "Madison please." He says. I hear him sob and sit leaning his back on the door. I sit and lean on the door as well. "Madison please I'm sorry." He says. "Please let me in." He says. I hear him sniff. I let out a sob. Should I open the door? I put my hand on the knob and start to think. I move on my knees and move over. I slowly unlock the door and a crack and take a seat on my bed. I put my face in my hands. Shawn turns around fast and pushes it open all the way. He sees the glass on the floor and the flowers. He comes in and sits next to me. He lifts  my head with his finger and stares into my eyes. "Thanks for opening the door." He says. I look at him and all my sadness goes away. He's the center of my happiness. He pulls me closer to him.  I rest my head on his shoulder. "Madison?" I say in a soft voice. "Yeah?" I ask. "Can we work this out?" He asks. "I don't think so." I said.  looked at him. He gets up. "I won't quit I'll do everything in my power to win you back." He said. I looked at him. "Shawn don't waste your time." I say. "I'm not." He said and left. I wiped what was left of my tears and put my face in my pillow.
