Roses Pov
After my quick lift to avoid the cameras I finally arrived home after being at work all day. I then found a note on the table written by Caitlin.
Dear Rose,
I'm on a date tonight. Sorry that I missed out on your show. On the bed I placed a new book to read to Josie. I hope she likes it. Be back soon.
Xx,
CateI scrunched up her note knowing that it is irrelevant. I then went into my bedroom that I share with Josie and got changed. I jumped in my bed and started to read the book Caitlin got Josie. I kept reading till I heard a knock on the door.
"HEY!", Cathleen threw her arms around me and hugged me. Christopher then gave me flowers kissed me on the cheek.
"Hey kids!", I greeted Jesse and Charlie as they came inside.
"We heard about your play. Sorry we couldn't make it tonight"
"Here's some flowers instead", Jesse gave to me.
"Well these are lovely flowers. Thank you", I put them in a varse.
"Jesse, Charlie go play while us adults have a conversation", Chris told them politely to get out. We then all sat down at the table.
"So what going on Rose? Was the play that bad?"
"No it was great. Lots of media attention that's for sure"
"Well that's good for your career. Was Josie ok with it?"
"She's fine. She went with Heidi and Sam after the show"
"Then what's wrong? You seem so down"
"I got.. I got a role", I remained subtle about it.
"YOU GOT A ROLE! That's great Rose. People are seeing your work", Cathleen was very excited trying not to draw attention to herself as the kids were in the other room.
"Well it's different. I have to go away"
"To where?"
"Santa Monica. It's a film, and it's going to be shoot there over the coming months"
"Whoa. What?! What a film?", Chris seemed overjoyed and surprised.
"I accepted it right on the spot. How could I refuse? I always wanted to go there. And Josie is now at the age where she can remember stuff and have fun. Plus it's a big step for me and a lot of money involved too. It's everything I ever wanted"
"Then why are you all sad about then?", Chris asked.
"It's just because I've never lived alone before"
"Well you've got Joe", Cathy does have a point.
"But I haven't lived by myself for four years! I've always lived with one of you girls since I came to New York"
"Then maybe this is a start. You're doing something you love, with the person you love, to the place you always wanted to go to. Just don't worry about all of us girls back in the city. We all have each other. And our mans", she winked, "you have nothing to worry about. Just have fun with Josie. She'll love it. Plus you'll get to spend more time with her. Think about what that will be like. This is an amazing opportunity Rose. We all have to begin our lives sometime. And maybe this is it. You breaking away from us to start your new family. This role is going to open up wonders for you and her. And we'll always be here watching and having your back", she clasped my hands smiling.
"Sorry we're late mummy", Josie came in unannounced and gave me a kiss on my cheek. She then walked into her bedroom to get changed.
"Yeah sorry Rose. Dessert went a tad over and we had a play in the park to get it out of her", Heidi suddenly walked in and apologised as Sam closed the door.
"Hey Chris, Cath", he greeted them as they innocently waved.
"Mummy where's my picture? I know the perfect spot to put it", Josie came out in her small simple pj's.
"It should be on the top of that bench over there", I pointed to it as she walked over and grabbed it down and marched into the bedroom. She got up on the bed and put it up on her side hovering over her head while she slept.
"That's a lovely drawing she's got there", Chris watched as she put it up all by herself. Miss independent.
"She drew it herself. She put everyone in it", I drank my tea.
"Really?!", Cathy seemed surprised.
"Everyone to the finest detail", Sam summed it all up.
"Wow. JOSIE?", she called, "what's your painting look like?", Cathy shouted across the room.
"Why don't you come and see!", she told her yelling running out and taking her hand dragging her in. Everyone else then left the kitchen to our messy bedroom scattered with her toys.
"Wow! Look at what we have here huh?", Chrir crept in closer to get a good look at it.
"And here's my dog Daisy. And that's my daddy", she pointed to them both.
"Alright Josie time for bed. It's far past your bed time", I opened the sheets for her as her tiny feet slipped under.
"But mummy!", she protested and whinged.
"Yeah I think we better go", Chris took Cathy under his wing and left.
"Yeah same", Sam and Heidi left.
"No! DON't GO! STAY!", Josie yelled wanting them all to come back.
"Now now Josie you must get some sleep", I kissed and stroked her blonde hair.
"Then can you stay with me? I don't want them monsters to come", I then looked over at Caitlin who was standing at the door, she then shut it politely.
"Alright. Move over", I hopped into bed with her as we both giggled as we got comfortable and I wrapped my arms around her.
"Can you sing me our song that you named me after?", she requested.
"Of course", I twisted her blonde curls as she got snug into the pillow, "Come Josephine in my flying machine going up she goes. Up she's goes", I gently stroked her, "Balance yourself like a bird on a beam. In the air she goes. There she goes", I hushed, "Up up a little bit higher. Oh my, the moon is on fire. Come Josephine in my flying machine going up all on goodbye", I sung softly to her as she fell asleep. I then gently stroked over her blonde curls. "Thank you Jack", I kissed her lightly on her pale white cheek. I laid on my back looking at her and fell asleep.
