Roses pov

I awoke early and dropped off Josephine. The whole day I thought about John. About our date that starts in a few hours. I feel like I'm in a different world today. I'm more into my date with John than my actual work. That is a problem. I confessed thinking about him.

I leaned on the rail looking out to sea where the sun is. It's beautiful. Either though I haven't been out to sea on a boat since Titanic, but that's ok. I guess the best thing is that it's Friday and I get the weekend off. Get the weekend to spend time with Josie.

As I finished up I wiped all my makeup off and went natural. I had a shower and got changed into something more simpler and easier to walk around in. I got all the dreadful strong old lady perfume off my body and lightly applied a sweet lighter one that you could smell if you got really close. I applied lipstick as well as light mascara. But I can't decide whether to have my hair up or down. Jack didn't mind both. In the end I kept it down for him all the way back to New York City. Mother on the other hand preferred it up always. More stylish that way I guess. I then did a very low messy bun to finish my outfit. I then walked outside to see John all ready, holding a bouquet of flowers.

"Roses", he gently smiled, "I immediately saw them and thought of you", I smelled them.

"Mmmmmm. They're extraordinary", I admired and smelled them.

"So, where are we off to tonight?", he clapped his hands.

"I don't know. I thought you were choosing. You know everything about this place"

"Yeah well your new. You deserve to choose your favourite place to go"

"Well I don't have a favourite place to go. Not yet", I smiled at him while he continually smiled and looked at me.

"Well ok, alright then. What do you think about clubbing? Hopping different bars, meet a few new people from here. Are you ok with that? I'm not trying to bed you or anything. It's just..", he stopped.

"No. I'm happy to do it. I've never really done anything like that before. I'm up for anything new and a challenge"

"Um ok great, then. This way", he lead me to the pier before going out to the nightclubs on the street. We only went to two or three before we went back. I got very tired easily. I'm not used to that sort of thing. Plus I've worked all day and I've got Joe.

"Thanks John. I really had a wonderful time", we stopped a little bit before George's little boat.

"Well I'm  glad you enjoyed it. You're really a wonderful dancer. Especially with the Irish gig", he complimented me, "has anyone ever beaten you at that", yes. Jack has. He is the only one.

"Ah yes. One person actually. That's it", I took brief pauses.

"Well I might have to organise a competition one day to see who wins"

"Yeah. One day, maybe", I held my coat, "thank you John", we just stood there awkwardly.

"Well goodnight Rose", he untucked one of his hands nervously from his pockets.

"Goodnight John", I walked on board George's boat. We then waved and smiled at each other once more and I ducked inside.

"John Calvert hey?" , George stood with Josephine at the end of the corridor.

"Oh! George, Josie. You scared me there", I walked down the few steps.

"Who were you talking to mummy?", Josephine asked.

"Ah no one sweetie", I walked past the picture of Jack to make myself a cup of tea. George then bent down and whispered something in her ear.

"Did you go on a date?", she asked. I then tried not to look at her. Knowing that if I did I made a huge mistake.

"Argh hmmm. Yes honey I did", she then remained silent for about ten seconds with me holding my breath hoping she will accept it.

"Ok", she walked off into the room to start packing her stuff letting me breathe.

George's pov

"So, John Calvert?", I leaned on the back of a chair. She said nothing and kept dipping her tea bag. "Don't play stupid with me Rose. I know everything and everyone in these parts. He's a nice young man. Some might say he reflects others that we know or have passed", she then turned around slowly with fear in her eyes. She then took one look at her cold tea that she forgot to put hot water in.

"I'm leaving", she began to walk out, "Josie let's go", I then grabbed her wrist with her eyes trembling in fear and sorrow. She immediately looked to me then to the photo on the wall. I then looked to her, Josephine, and the photograph. I then slowly let her go, "goodnight George", she left with Josephine on her arm. Of course, It all makes sense. I then looked up at the picture.

"Goodnight boys", I kissed my fingers bringing it to the glass protector. It was then lights out.
