Johns pov
Rose went back to work as did I. We each took days off to take care of Josie and her strength grew and grew till she was up on her feet dancing around the house. It feels so natural to be around her. It feels like she's mine. Like I've always known her. She's very comfortable around me. We play games and dance. I take her to the pier and we go round on rides all day like she did with George. Rose mostly works nights now, she's doing reshoots trying to finish her movie.
"Right hop into bed now Josie. No no no no", she tried to drag me away into the living room.
"Yes John yes. I want to play. Mummy won't know", she then let of my hand and ran. She then went under the couch and found her colouring in pencils and board game, "Me and Great Grandpa George used to play this game. It's called Pictionary you want to play?", she set out the game.
"Sure. One game is al I'm playing thoughl", I then sat next across from her, "so what does it involve? What do I have to do to win?", I smiled at her as she set out the cards.
"Draw", she responded.
"Draw? Josie I think I've already lost to you already", I admitted to her. She already knows my drawing skills aren't the best. Now she's just taking advantage of me.
"Maybe. But triple G beat me", she smiled and sat up straight as she finished.
"What did he win? That awesome shortened nickname", I chuckled.
"Yes", she admitted smiling as well beginning to laugh.
"And what would I win? If I won against you and your pro drawing skills", I asked intrigued by her proposition.
"You get to marry my mummy", she said with a smile, "right first card says..-"
"Wa.. Wa.. Wait Josie", I made her put the card down, "that's what I win? Josie, marriage doesn't work that way", I laughed as she sat there confused.
"It's not? I thought the man has to love the women and then ask her father for permission to marry her?", she told me the proper acceptable way it should go.
"Yes. That's all right"
"Then what the problem? You love my mummy don't you? And I'm the next best thing to her after daddy. And I want you to get married to her", she openly admitted to me.
"Right I think it's time for you to go to bed", I said blushing of her comment trying to to shove the game under the couch where she originally found it. Does that mean she wants me to be her dad? I don't know one thing about being a father. Other than you always support the child and always play with them like I have been doing.
"John", Josie said laying tucked in bed as I was halfway shutting the door, "can you lay with me", my body was shaken to my core. She wants me to stay and lay beside her? Only Rose does that. I've never came close to that. I would/never could be close to that, "please?", she added on the end sweetly smiling.
"Sure", I gave a slight grin as she giggled at me, "right move over", I hopped into bed beside her, "so?..." I laid beside her waiting for her to speak.
"You didn't answer my question. Do you love my mummy or not?", she turned onto her side and looked at me with her dreamy blue eyes.
"I.. um. Yeah. Yes. I do. I really do", I looked at the girl who gave me a soft smile with little tears building in her eyes, "I also love you too", I stroked her curly hair that she got from Rose, "I may not be your father. But I love you and your mother. Nothing can change that", I bent down and kissed the top of her head that I've never done before. Not even close to.
