How can you degrade me and expect me to see you in the same light?

Keith was frustrating him.

Shiro wouldn't stop going parent mode on him.

Hunk was sticking with Shiro.

Pidge had already left the room.

And Allura and Coran were also with Shiro.

No wonder Lance was starting to crumble under the emotional pressure.

Why?

Because in the middle of a planetary rescue mission he and Blue had gone missing. That was all the Paladin's knew and for them that was all there was to it. Not the fact that Lance had noticed a group of Alien children about to be flattened because of the debris of their fight, that being the reason for his sudden disappearance.

Thoughts along the lines of:

'Let the four stronger Paladin's fight the low level Galra guards and save defenceless children, or let the die and the whole group is blamed and I have a guilty conscious for the rest of my life. Not a hard choice.'

Swam through Lance's mind as Shiro, Allura and Coran were lecturing him. Sure he was listening but the words just kept going over his head, he understood them, but at the same time he didn't. He couldn't explain himself, yet he was being blamed. Unable to defend himself, even though that was how Allura wanted them to act, defensive of themselves and others.

"So, what excuse do you have for leaving us in the middle of battle?"

That statement knocked Lance from his philosophical and condescending thoughts. They were going to let him explain now?

Shiro and Allura looked like parents, each having their arms crossed and a stern look on their faces almost identical. They were both playing the bad cop it seemed.

"I was-"

"You were what Lance?" He was cut short by Keith, the infuriating arsehole demanding answers while rarely giving them was annoying the frustrated Paladin even more.

"I was saving a group of children from being flattened."

The two 'bad cop's' looked shocked. So he continued.

"The lions kept crashing into the canyons to avoid the rays knocking some of the rock formations," his voice rise anger evident in it now,"Children Shiro! Children were under those formations! Hiding from the giant flying robots that to them, we're destroying their home! And me and Blue, unlike the rest of you!" He waved his hands in front of him gesturing to everyone else," COULDN'T IGNORE THAT FACT. So I'm sorry Okay!? I'm sorry that for once in my life I wasn't a worthless fucking screw up of a back up and helped people for once. I'm really sorry! So what are you going to do now?!"

Lance, not waiting for a response walked out of the bridge, yes he was out of character, but for goodness sake, to yell, tell him how stupid he was, how people could of died if everyone else hadn't of worked harder because he failed and THEN demand an answer from him and be shocked at the legitimate answer. That to Lance was cause enough to lose him cool. He had cousins at home on earth, no older than the children he'd seen today, that was the main reason, because when he made eye contact with one of those children? He was back home, his little cousins in the place of the alien children .

But it still angered him, and he couldn't calm down. Something in him was fuelling his temper and he didn't know what, and he wasn't sure how to stop it.

And to be honest, when he was sat atop of Blues head looking up at the 'sky' on the planet they'd just rescued, he wasn't sure if he wanted to.
