Mai's P.O.V
"Okay Masako, you next." I said sitting back down on the couch. "Where and when did you get your powers?" She asked glaring slightly.

"Heh heh, remember when I fainted while making tea way back? Well when I passed out Alex came to me and made an offer to me in the dreamscape. As you can tell I accepted." I said wording is carefully.

"Okay, my turn," Naru shot me a glare. "What did he offer you exactly?"

"Well, um, he um, offered me the power to keep you guys safe. All of you mean the world to me. I would do anything to protect you even if it took my life!" I shouted getting a little worked up. "There's something your not telling us," Naru said taking a sip of tea.

"There's nothing else I swear! Why would I lie to you?" I waved my hands to show it. 'I can't tell him that I was also promised power that was 10 fold of his. It would only cause more harm than good' I thought.

"If that's all, I'll be leaving," I said walking away. I went upstairs and went to Naru's room. Despite the house having other rooms, Naru insisted that we share his old bedroom. I mean I'm okay sharing a room, but it just awkward. It's hard to explain but I just feel a little uncomfortable.

Just then there was a knock on the door. "Mai, I'm coming in," Naru said from the other side. At least he knocked. He walked in and sat right next to me on his bed. He leaned over and whispered in my ear, "I know there's something your not telling me." I jumped back so far I fell off the bed. He got up and followed me. "So, what else aren't you telling me? Did you sell your soul to the devil? Are you and Alex having a kid?," I interjected at this point. "WOAH! Now you're just jumping to conclusions!" I shouted and crawled backward so far my back was to the wall and I got up to lean against it. "Well, unless you tell me, I'll be forced to keep making assumptions about it. So is it a boy or a girl?" He smirked. "I'm not having a kid," I yelled again as I slid down into a sitting positition. "Do you want me to use more invasive methods? I will if I have to. You get one last chance." He said sternly. "I said, I'm not hiding anything." He got down on the floor in front of me and continued until we were face to face. My cheeks flared up as his face came closer to mine. Then pushed me back until my head hit the floor.

Naru put his hand on my neck to hold me down, "Now that you're more vulnerable, tell me what you're hiding." His icy stare didn't stop there. "Fine, but don't get mad." I had to give in. Otherwise he could attack me with his ESP. "I'm all ears." He smirked once more. "He told me that I would be stronger than you by 10 fold, and promised me the power of angels."

He looked down with his bangs casting a shadow over his eyes, his chest stared to quiver and shake. Then a sound started eminating from his chest. His head suddenly shot up. Then it occurred to me that he was laughing, maniacally, but laughing none the less. This continued for another minute or so. When Naru stopped he had to wipe away tears from his eyes. "I'm sorry, but that was the funniest thing I've ever heard." He went back to his stoic self.

We both stood up and walked to the door, but suddenly Naru turned and trapped me against the wall with his arm. "You will never be stronger than me, and no one ever will. I'm considered the most powerful person in the world and don't you forget that, and 10 fold? No way, never on this earth." He glared fiercely. A stare so violent I could of died if it was any stronger. Naru left the room and slammed the door on his way out. I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding.

I made my way to the window at the left corner of the room and sat on the window sill. I stared out the window as tears ran down my face and sobs shook my body, not that I wasn't already shaking out of fear.  I never expected to be close to him in the first place, the fact I even thought that was possible is amazing. I haven't even used my powers to do anything yet, he's probably right though.
My vision became blurry as I gazed out the glass and saw Naru walking down the dirt road into town.

"Don't listen to him Mai," Alex said appearing into my lonesome corner. "But most of it was true. The thing is I never wanted to be more powerful, I just wanted to keep my friends safe and away from harm." I replied. "Why, not do both? One comes with the other so why ignore that detail?" He asked. "I guess, but I wouldn't know where to begin." I explained looking down at his disappearing figure. "That stupid, idiot, scientist," I growled under my breath.
