When we got the mansion Yoongi didn't even wait for the guards to open the gate fully before getting out the car and slipping through. I hurriedly followed him into the mansion.
"Yoongi!" I called out his name as I tried to catch up to him. He wordlessly went upstairs and straight into his room. He suddenly halted, causing me to almost walk into his back.
I walked around to his front and saw that he had a pained expression on his face. I grabbed his hand and rubbed comforting circles on his skin.
I could not stand his silent grieving. "Yoongi, please talk to me."
He raised his downcast gaze onto me. "Eunjung, was what you say true? You will really be my girlfriend?"
I nodded with a small smile. "Yes. I know you need someone right now. I am here for you."
Yoongi returned my smile with one of his own, only his contained sadness. He pulled me into his body and wrapped his arms around my back. He buried his face into my neck and whispered, "I'm glad you are here."
I felt some wetness on my shoulder. I realised Yoongi's tears had started falling again. I let him cry into my shoulder as I rubbed his back. Just as I was comforting him, the warmness of his body was helping me get over the fright I received from the event just now. I closed my eyes as I accepted and enjoyed his embrace.
We stayed like that in silence for a few minutes until Yoongi calmed down. He pulled away and held me by my shoulders. He leaned in and gave my forehead a quick kiss. I didn't resist.
"Thank you, Eunjung," Yoongi whispered sincerely. It was so strange to see the normally boastful King of BAC like this.
"What will you do now?" I asked.
"Come downstairs," Yoongi led me by my hand, "I will tell you sitting down."
We went back down to the living room. Yoongi found a maid on the way and ordered tea. We sat on one sofa.
"You are now the head of the family, what is your plan?"
"I am already 18, and I don't think Father had any other relatives," Yoongi began, "so I will inherit everything, including this mansion." He looked around as his gaze landed on the dark red sofa we were sitting on. "I'm throwing out these sofas first. I hate this colour."
I chuckled. "Exactly my first thought the first time I came into this room."
"I'll most likely throw away those ugly animal heads on the wall too."
I chuckled again. I realised Yoongi and I probably had similar aesthetic tastes.
"But all that doesn't matter. What matters is FIRE. I will continue my plan to take over FIRE." He paused a bit, then continued, "My father's death helped us massively."
"You are including your father's death as part of your plan?" I asked.
"I know my father would have wanted me to. If his death helps us get to the top of the gang, then he has not died in vain. So yes, I will use my father's death to propel the plan."
"That's... admirable," I said. He said that so casually, right after witnessing his own father's death. That reminded me of a type of people my father told me about: sociopaths.
"I guess it's time to tell you the rest of the plan then," Yoongi said. "The degree of success of the first phrase still hinges on what happens in the meeting between FIRE and Seoulsangdeuk."
"You want my father or someone to interrupt it, right?" I asked. "Then that will prove to Leader Kim that we were right."
He nodded. "Exactly. We gain Leader Kim's trust while the opposite happens to Mr Ga."
We were briefly interrupted by the maid bringing us tea.
"And how will you take Me Ga down after the leader stops trusting him?" I said, holding my cup.
"No, we won't take Mr Ga down. We are not trying to destroy FIRE, we are trying to isolate Leader Kim from the rest of the gang. Now that we've planted the seeds of doubt between them, we just need to water it."
I raised a brow. "Will you turn Mr Ga against Leader Kim?"
"Yes. Now that my father has died and I have gained Leader Kim's trust, I will likely be given more important missions to see if I can fill my father's shoes. More responsibility means more power for me. Mr Ga will have less of an importance in the gang. I think we can convince him to join our side."
I huffed. "Why would he? If I was jealous of someone I would never join them. I will fight for my position."
"But that's you, Eunjung," Yoongi smiled. "Not everyone is as prideful. A lot of people in the underworld are myopic. They follow whatever goods that others offer them. They are sheep, we are not. That's why we should lead them, not the other way around."
"Your encouraging talk is all good and well, but how do you actually plan to do it?" I asked. "If Mr Ga managed to work his way up to become the leader's right-hand man he can't be stupid."
"No. But everyone in that position is distrustful. He has had a long career in the underworld, he must have been betrayed many times before. It is hard to gain his loyalty, but not hard to make him disloyal."
"What are you planning?"
"I was going to do to myself, but now that you are in the game, I think it would be better if you do it." He took a sip of his tea. "I will bring you along to my missions and purposefully show Mr Ga that we are close to Leader Kim. Then you talk to him. Convince him that Leader Kim is planning to replace him with someone else."
"How should I do that?"
"I will teach you what to say. And use your feminine charm on him. That always works on men."
I laughed. " You want your girlfriend to charm another guy?"
He shrugged. "Only for our goal. And I'm confident in my ability to charm you enough that you wouldn't fall for any other men."
"Right, not arrogance, confidence," I muttered.
He smirked. "Yes, confidence."
