"What are you doing here?" I questioned Mr Ga. He was in a suit with a black hat on which he tilted down to try to cover his face. He was evidently trying not to be seen.
"I am here to gamble," he replied, straightening up.
"No, you are not," I said with conviction, then reiterated, "What are you doing here?"
He looked around behind me. "Where is Min Yoongi?"
"He has gone the toilet," I said.
He sighed. "So what do you think of the way he handled things?"
I sensed that there was something more to the question than just simple curiosity of my opinion. So I looked down and pretended to be unsure, "I- I don't know."
His brows furrowed. "Why are you doubtful? Do you not like the way he did it?"
I could tell that he wanted me to say yes, so I lied, "I mean... I felt like it could have been dealt with in a less harsh manner..."
He nodded with a satisfied smile on his face. "I do too. I don't like the way he does things. So young, but already so brutal. I don't want another Han Gyeongseok fighting for power with me."
I raised a brow. "Fighting for power? You and Mr Han don't get along?" I had never seen Mr Ga and Yugyeom's father together.
"Let's talk alone," Mr Ga said. I nodded and we went to a resting room to the side of the casino hall that Yoongi told me about as we were walking around. We both grabbed an alcoholic drink, which I obviously wasn't supposed to drink since I was still younger than the legal drinking age in Korea. But you know, this whole place was illegal.
We sat down on opposite dark red leather sofas in the small room. It was quite bare compared to the rest of the extravagant casino.
Mr Ga took a sip of his drink and said, "There has always been quite a bit of enmity between me and Han Gyeongseok. Though we hide it well, not even Leader Kim knows."
"Why?" I asked. "Is it because he is too ruthless?"
He nodded. "I believe in brotherhood and loyalty, and that was how I was when I began my career in the gang. I rose in ranks in the gang through doing favours for everyone. But then I started getting betrayed and backstabbed. It was a long and arduous fight for me, but I learned. I learned that you have you look out for yourself, and that those who appear the most loyal can be the ones that hurt you the most."
I nodded as I listened intently. "Yes, very true. I believe in loyalty too. If someone is kind to me, I will never be unkind back," I lied again.
"I am a completely different person than I was back then..." Mr Ga's gaze was distant.
"But you still believe in loyalty?" I suggested.
"Yes. I joined FIRE because of a brother, but he was killed by one of my backstabbers."
"Oh," I whispered with fake sympathy. "That's... Is that how things work in a gang?"
"What about you, Oh Eunjung? Why did you join this gang?"
I put on an expression of innocence. "Yoongi told me what you said at the beginning... He said in the underworld, people value loyalty, and I can easily make friends."
Mr Ga huffed, "I knew it. I knew that son is no different than his father. A manipulative little thing."
I gasped. "Manipulative? You mean... he has been manipulating me?"
He nodded. "As I said, no one is nice and loyal in the underworld."
"Including you?"
That got him to pause what he was saying. "Yes, including me."
I smiled and shook my head. "I don't believe that. You are here, warning me about the dangers of the underworld. That is nice."
"I guess." Mr Ga then downed the rest of the orange cocktail he had been sipping and stood up. "Anyway, Miss Oh, it was nice talking to you."
I stood up as well. "No, I am the one that is glad to have talked. And just Eunjung is fine."
"Then call me Wookheon."
He reached out and we shook hands over the table between us. He then left the resting room before me. When I exited I went looking for Yoongi, and I spotted him back up on the platform with Mr Han and Yugyeom. I walked past the guards back up the stairs and joined him there.
"Ah, here is Eunjung," Yoongi said with a smile as I approached. He put a hand on the small of my back.
"Good," Mr Han said, still with that scowl of his. "I was just saying to Yoongi, I am impressed with the firm way he dealt with the cheater. I will report back to Leader Kim."
I smiled and nodded. Mr Han walked past us to leave. Yugyeom followed behind him and he gave me a smile as he passed me. We watched them going down the stairs and the middle carpet of the casino towards the main entrance.
"Where were you?" Yoongi asked.
"I was talking to Mr Ga."
He turned his head to look at me with a confused expression. "Ga Wookheon? He is here?"
I nodded. "He really doesn't like you. He says you are too ruthless, just like your father."
Yoongi chuckled. "I swear, every time you go off without me you are always bitching about me."
I laughed and shrugged. "Not my fault the whole gang seems to dislike you."
"That fine," Yoongi said. "I don't demand friendship from them, I demand respect"
"I know. But that's exactly why Mr Ga does not like you."
Yoongi sighed. "It's going to be hard to make him loyal to me."
An idea came to my head. "Why don't we change the plan a little, and make him loyal to me instead?"
Yoongi raised a brow. "I am listening."
"He appears to like me, at least way more than you. I feel like our plan would go smoother if we try to make him loyal to me instead. I knew he was trying to manipulate me when I was talking to him, trying to make you seem like the bad guy. I will pretend to fall for his manipulation, and pretend that we are drifting apart."
A smirk broke onto Yoongi's face. "Yes, I like that idea."
I huffed with a smile. "Aren't you glad you made me part of the plan?"
"I am." Yoongi pulled me in and kissed me on the lips.
