Warnings: Awkward scene where the reader is technically shirtless, and Chris walks in on you?

Prompt: The Ares III mission crew returns to Earth, but Chris returns with news to you. You were apart of the Ares III mission, but you were just Chris' best friend. Now returning to Earth you get an unexpected visit.

You walk into your apartment taking in a deep breath, you just wanted to shower and watch tv. Not to mention eat your pantry dry.

You walk towards your bedroom and look for comfortable clothing to change into after a warm shower. You head into your bathroom next and slip into the shower, you change and head into your kitchen looking through your cabinets.

You grab your favorite combination of food and head into your bedroom laying back to watch tv and eat your food, nothing was stopping you. And it definitely wasn't that space food that you didn't care about.

Chris walked into his own apartment feeling like a chicken, the whole trip to Mars and back he was planning on asking you to go on a date with him once you got back to Earth, but he never did.

Johansson didn't seem to notice all his attempts to get towards you when he could, she kissed his helmet and you just merely looked at them smiled and helped him with his helmet in the back.

Of course you didn't pay attention, he figured it was more-or-less because you didn't like him back, but he wanted to try. The only thing that ruined his plan was Watney really, you seemed so worried about getting him back that Chris thought it was useless to ask you on a date.

He sits on his couch annoyed with himself, why couldn't he just man up and ask you on a date like he wanted to? Oh, that's right he's a chicken! He's too scared to ask you out so he just avoids it!

Something else about asking you out, every time he got close to it someone interrupted him- but it's like he never tried. To him he didn't, he would start a conversation with you and then stay with the conversation, he never tried to ask you out.

"Come on, Beck! Get it together!" He groans to himself.

"We'll just try tomorrow." He sighs.

The next morning you woke up like normal, you looked in the mirror and sigh. You wanted to work out, it was apart of your daily routine since you went to Mars. It wouldn't hurt to continue the routine.

You pulled your hair back and slipped into a sports bra, and leggings. You slip earphones in and head out into your living room where your treadmill was set up. You use it for an hour before taking another shower.

Your phone was freaking out so you ran to get it completely forgetting about grabbing your shirt, so you were in skinny jeans and a bra.

"Mum, hey. Sorry. Whatcha need?"

Your mum explained the upcoming doctor appointment she had for some weird reason, you believed it was because you were space for so long and she just wanted to hear your voice. You set your phone on the couch and look around believing you had a shirt somewhere.

Chris walks up to your apartment door and unlocks it with his spare key, he was one of your best friends and you trusted him with this. He walked in and saw no one "Y/n?" He opens your bedroom door and you jump looking at Chris still shirtless.

"Oh my God! Y/n! You! Shirt! Sorry! My bad! I didn't know!" He shuts the door quickly his eyes wide from shock as you stood there shocked as well before sliding a sweat shirt on.

"Hey." You give him a awkward small smile.

"Hey." He was sitting on your couch staring at the wall feeling bad.

"I didn't mean to just walk in, I thought you were asleep." Chris explains.

"It's okay." You look at the floor.

An awkward silence fills the room.

"Y'know I like you. The whole going into space thing, and being on Mars leaving Mars. Going back to Mars for Watney. I've been meaning to ask you out." Chris finally says.

You look at him "And walking in on me made you remember that?" He shrugs.

"I walked in on you, and I saw you and I thought about it. If you reject me then that gives me a reason to leave the awkwardness. But I'm not saying I want you to reject me no, I'm just saying that if you do I'll leave and be your best friend only."

You giggle at him "Am I cute, yet?" You giggle again making him smile.

"Just ask me out." You smile towards him.

"Are you serious? Will you go on a date with me? Or just be my girlfriend?" You nod "Yeah." He jumps you pulling you up and hugging you.

"Oi! I did it!"
