Chapter 22: Revelations

Winston stepped through one of Symettra's teleporters, entering the Oval Office with a grim smile. It was an hour or so after the attempted assassination, and the office was locked down more than the Pentagon. Several maintenance workers stood behind the president's desk, sweeping up glass from the smashed window while being watched over by several armed guards for protection. The president himself stood up in the corner of the room, reading off a data-pad with all of Overwatch's information on Talon. Winston lumbered over to him and spoke up with a confident voice.

"Mr Cavanoy, it is good to see you alive and well. My name is Winston, the unofficial leader of the team who assisted in your defence" he stated, extending his arm out. The president looked up and smiled in a friendly manner, shaking Winston's hand.

"Then I owe your organisation my thanks, I appreciate you saving my life" the president replied.

"I...I must admit I am shocked that you are not more confused, the leader of your protectors is a talking gorilla" Winston said as the president smiled enigmatically.

"Oh come on, there are all sorts of people in today's society. I am trying to improve the attitudes of people these days, there is no point judging someone on their image. The quality of their heart is what truly matters, so I say again, thanks" the president explained.

"Hm, I knew there was a reason I voted for you sir, now come let's get down to business" Winston stated, leading the president to a table and consulting with him. You sat in the corner on one of the luxury chairs, now dressed in your normal clothes again. Two armed guards stood either side of you, unfortunately the security team did not share the president's trust. You fiddled with your gloves, passing the time watching funny videos on it, much to the guards' annoyance. After about the thousandth cat video, you sighed out loud and stood up with a stretch. The guards eyed you suspiciously but you turned to them and glared at them a little.

"Relax, I just saved your boss's life and did your job, I'm going to find my friend and you're not going to stop me" you stated, walking out of the room to the distrustful stares of the security guards.

You strolled through the corridors which you had been running through just a couple of hours ago, your heart content in stark contrast to your previous panic. You'd saved the president of America and captured a high level Talon agent, it was quite the victory. Though a small niggling thought remained, Doomfist was still out there and he was far too dangerous to be allowed to roam around the place. And then there was the Sombra group, that had started all of this. Still, Overwatch would get em, you were really starting to whittle away at the villains of the world. You turned a corner and entered a small room of computers with several official Whitehouse staff just waking up at the seats. You saw Lena helping them up alongside...Genji?

"Don't remember you being put on this mission" you said with a smile as the ninja turned to face you.

"Don't remember you asking me if I wanted to be? It was good to fight alongside you once more Y/N" Genji replied, bowing his head a little.

"You alright?" you asked Lena, she seemed a little...distant.

"N-no, no I'm not luv. There was someone here, a Talon agent...or possibly even an agent of Sombra. She was a hacker but one with incredible skill, and she pulled some sort of drive out of these computers" Lena explained.

"Don't worry ma'am, we'll do a full diagnostic check now, if anything has happened to the defence database, we'll know" one of the engineers who had been knocked out answered, typing on his keyboard. You and Lena leant over the engineer's chair, watching the screen closely. You understood every line of code being typed by the engineer and made noises of agreement at his moves while Lena simply didn't want to be left out.
