Impending Devotion

Chapter Sixteen

After the nice breakfast we had today, we spent a nice morning to go out and walk in the nearest park. Kei was really nice today, it didn't seem at all like he was holding me captive at his own home. People who walked passed us even greeted us and we greeted them back. It was such a nice morning.

Although I couldn't tell him about my dream, I had to tell him some other excuse for why I woke up like that because he got curious and worried for me. So, I had to tell him that the nightmare I had was a giant spider trapping me in its web and about to consume me. Gladly enough for my convincing talking skills with matching facial expressions, he believed me.

While taking a short break from our walk, we went to a vending machine nearby. Or rather, three vending machines nearby. One sold drinks, one sold snacks, and one sold ice cream. I had to get myself an ice cream cone, Kei got himself some water, which he still shared with me, saying that I needed to hydrate, and I did. Indirect kiss... Haha!

After the short break, we just decided to head back home and watch a little movie before lunch. The movie we watched was amazing! Even though I am a romantic girl myself, I still love watching those high adrenaline shows full of action and combat. They really give me this certain thrill.

When lunch time came, we decided to go eat at a little family restaurant close to Kei's place, which is apparently where he works at. He just has a day off today. His coworker greeted him with a handshake and then nudged him, "Hey. Hey. Hey~! Is this the precious little Yuiko I've been hearing about lately~?" I had to blush.

"Duuuudeee! Shut up!" Kei sounded embarrassed, which was surprisingly cute. He then mumbled, "But she is..." he then faced me, "Say 'hi' Yuiko, this is my coworker and friend, Wa-"

"Watari Ren! At your service~. You can call me Ren, Yuiko-chan~." he winked at me. I laughed nervously and bowed at him as my eyes then wandered towards Kei, who had a sour look on his face.

"Ren, buddy, you're cool, but don't you go making a pass on my girl and calling her by her first name this early." he said with a fake smile on his face that looked a bit scary.

"Whoah! Scary dude! And I'm sorry, I won't do it again." Watari then faced me, "May I ask for your last name?"

"Hanazawa, Hanazawa Yuiko." I then bowed in respect, "Nice to meet you Watari-san."

"Aww... I wanted to be called Ren~. Oh well..." he then caught his breath and led us to our table to take our order, "So, what are you guys having for lunch?"

While we were both eating our food, Kei had a sour look the entire time. "Is the food not good Kei?"

He then snapped out of it, "Oh no! It's plenty good! Its just... There's just something on my mind..."

"Is it Watari?" I asked curiously. Kei nearly chocked on his iced tea. "So I'm guessing that's a yes?" I snickered and he lifted a brow at me with a sly smile.

"Nothing gets passed you, huh babe?"

I blushed and then started to whine, "I told you to cut it out with the pet names!"

Kei laughed at me and apologized, "But yeah... I can't get the feeling that Ren is an obstacle out of my head."

Oh no... Not good!

"Kei. Trust me." I tell him as I reach to hold his hand, "You're my boyfriend and I love you. Nobody's gonna steal me away from you no matter how much they flirt with me."

"Promise?" he whimpers with puppy dog eyes and I giggle as I promise him with a pinky swear.

After we finish our meal, we head back home and spend the rest of our time there either playing games on his consoles, watching movies, or even just talking the day out.

When the evening came, of course I had to sleep back in the basement again, but hearing my sad tone, Kei asked me, "Would you like to sleep with me in my room?" my eyes widened and I blushed, he understood my reaction and gave a come back, "W-W-We won't be doing anything wrong!!! Y-You can sleep on my bed, and I'll prepare myself a futon and I'll sleep on the floor!!"

Kei seemed very flustered while trying to answer me as calm as he could muster, but failed as he was really embarrassed with the sentence he said first. But I giggled at him struggling with trying to make me understand that he didn't want to get in my pants, but wanted to spend a simple and nice night together, sleeping together in separate beds.

"I'd love to... It'd be way nicer than sleeping alone down in that basement." I answered sincerely and Kei brightened up.

"I'm glad..." he sighed in relief and continued, "Oh! I'll be working tomorrow around 10 in the morning, could I trust the house to you while I'm off to work?"

"Of course! I'll guard it with my life~!" I clapped and Kei chuckled at my enthusiastic behavior.

"Well then, shall we be heading off to bed now?" he suggested, and as if the timing was perfect, I let out a huge yawn and Kei teased me for it, "Now that was the perfect way to tell me 'yes'."

I giggled, "Silly~."

We then prepared ourselves for sleep and he laid out his futon. After all the necessary preparations, he then wished me a goodnight with a kiss on my forehead.

When was the last time I was told goodnight like this by my father? I kinda miss it...

As we both settled ourselves in our beds, we then drifted off to sleep, letting the night pass us by until morning would reach...

I really hope Kei would just be like this and he'd let me go home...
