After some more talking with Twilight, we came to an agreement.
She would help me with my newfound magic and let me stay with her in her castle so I didn't cause a mass panic in ponyville.
In return, I would help out around the castle and basically be there for her to vent and talk to about things on her mind.
I was happy to oblige with her requests.
"Anything you need Princess. I'll be there to help." I said, confidently with a smile.
"Thank you, Jacob. I'll do my best to help you with your new magic. I can't promise anything though." Twilight replied with a hint of worry to her voice.
I hugged her and chuckled. "That's all I ask for. The best help you can give I'm sure will be enough."
She hugged back and sighed. "If you say so."
We stayed hugging for a short while until we heard what I could only assume were hoofsteps coming down the hallway just outside the room.
"Crap! I gotta hide!" I quickly exited the embrace and dove into the nearby closet.
"Jacob! Wait!" Twilight tried to stop me, but froze once the door opened.
Standing at the doorway, was a taller mare. She was about twice the height of Twilight and she had a dark blue, white-specked mane and tail. She also had a slightly lighter shade of blue for her fur color. It was Princess Luna, The Princess of The Night.
"Twilight, I need to speak with you. There's a matter that we need to discuss." Luna explained that Princess Celestia had sent her to check on a recent disturbance that happened in ponyville recently. I assumed she meant me and maybe that one pony who saved me from the guards.
Where did that pony go, anyway?
"Sure, Princess Luna. What is it?"
"Have you seen any peculiar creatures about? Anything out of the ordinary?"
Twilight slightly jolted at the question, but, to my surprise, kept her composure really well.
"No, I haven't. What should I keep a look out for? Manticore? Cockatrice?"
Luna shook her head. "A human."
I could now feel the panic in the room, especially between me and Twilight. It was strange, like we were feeling the EXACT same emotion at the same time. Fear. The worst emotion, in my opinion.
Still, Twilight remained strong. "Ok. I'll have guards posted around town to keep an eye out. What should I do with the human if I or one of my guards find him?"
Luna looked to the side, directly at the closet. It seemed like she knew I was there. Actually, I think she knew all along. She was just playing dumb.
"Tell them we mean no harm, we just wish to ask them some questions and perhaps create stronger relations with the human race." After she finished talking, Luna promptly left. But not before winking at the closet.
After she was gone, there was a deafening silence. Not a single sound. That lasted for about 5 minutes before I emerged from the closet.
"I think she-" Twilight started.
"I know." I cut her off. "She just wants to talk? How am I supposed to hide the Amulet? Surely they'd be furious if they saw me with it."
Twilight put her hoof to her mouth, thinking it seemed. "We need to start you training, now."
"Now?! So soon?"
"Do you want to be sure you have control over the Amulet? You need to practice and train all you can if you want to master the Amulet. Nopony has done it before... But, you aren't a pony. Nor do I believe you're any average human, either. Yes, I have met other humans. It was... Interesting to say the least. But that aside, it's time to start training!"
I nodded. "Alright. Let's do this."
Twilight and I left her castle and teleported back to the clearing in the Everfree where she first found me. She said it would the best place for me to practice.
"You really think so? Didn't you say that it was really dangerous in here?"
She laughed nervously and rubbed the back of her neck. "That was just a tactic I used to try to convince you to come back with me. So we could talk and whatnot."
I raised a brow. "So you lied to me?"
"It was for a good cause! I swear!"
I laughed and waved my hand. "It's not a big deal. I appreciate your worry and care. Just try to be honest with me from now on, ok? That's all I ask."
She nodded quickly. "Can do! Now, let's start with the basics. Show me what you know so far."
I smirked and started to swirl my hands in circles, the dark orbs forming in my palms.
"Impressive. You already know the dark portion of the magic. What else do you know?"
I switched the direction of my hands and the dark orbs faded to white.
"My my. Someone seems ambitious. Light magic is more advanced than simple spells. I'm impressed so far. Let's see what else you've got."
"Well, you already have seen the wing spell. So that's already 3 spells I know right off the bat. But there's one more I know."
I disapated the Light spells and brought my hands up to my chest and quickly flung them out to my sides.
Two fireballs exploded to life in my hands. Twilight jumped at their eruptive creation.
"Oh goodness, that scared me. Perfect, you learned one of the more basic of spells. Fire manipulation. Great. That's a good place to work from."
Suddenly, the balls of fire began to slowly grow, not of my control and at a steady rate.
"Uhm... What's happening? Twilight?"
"Oh no, the Amulet is trying to overtake you! You need to fight back! Don't let it take control!!!"
The fireballs continued to grow, but the pace had slowed down from my resisting. I tried to make them shrink, but they still slowly grew.
"I can't! It's too strong!" The fireballs both swelled suddenly to an alarming size, they looked like giant water balloons that were about to pop.
"Jacob! You can do it!! You just need to be confident in yourself"
I couldn't hold on anymore... Both of the fireballs exploded in my hands, sending me flying. I shot out of the forest like a sniper round and I landed back down nearby a small cottage with a resounding and dull thudding noise.
The only thing I saw before I blacked out was a yellow mare running toward me.
Then... Darkness.
