My Special Talent

I slowly got to my feet and shook the grass off of me. Brushing off the back of my head, I looked at the small town again.

"I can only assume that's Ponyville." I said with a smile.

The small town seemed so vibrant from a distance. It felt nicer than being in the middle of it. You could see so much more from outside the city limits. But, I decided to bring my little moment of euphoria to an end. I felt the need to go and meet the ponies that were there. However, there was a slight problem...

I was nervous, scared even, to go and meet everypony.

"How would they react to me...? I don't want to be shot at with magic. I'd like to stay in one piece." A violent shiver ran down my spine, shaking my whole body a little.

After a, longer than it should've been, internal debate, I decided that I'd go into town but not right up front. I thought maybe staying out of sight would be best for the time being.

I made my way into town, sneaking around carefully as not to be seen. I had practiced quite a bit with my friend who seemed to have an affinity for stealth. He also loved a video game series that involved some kind of alien life form that was extremely malicious. Anyways, as I worked my way toward Twilight's castle, I heard a pony shout.

"Somepony get the guards! There's an unidentified creature sneaking around town!!!"

I groaned. "Of course they saw me..." Luckily, I still had the shadows of buildings I could use and I had darker clothes on. Huh, talk about coincidental cliché.

I picked up the pace and hastily made my way into Twilight's castle. It was a hot day in Ponyville so the back door had been propped open to allow air flow through the castle.

"Thank God for coincidences..." I whispered to no one, or pony, in particular.

As I entered the enormous crystal structure, I walked into various rooms. Starting with a bathroom of all things. I decided to not look to much into that room and I moved on to more rooms.

Over the course of my, about 30-40 minute, escapade, I had seen another bathroom, a storage closet, some room with a TON of mirrors and an empty room with another door in the back. Unfortunately, that door was locked.

There was one more room I ventured into and it really caught my eye. In the middle of the room was a single pedestal. Little did I know that this room was SUPPOSED to be locked, but the hinges had been forced open. The door still swung open on the previously mentioned hinges, but the door would not lock anymore.

I walked into the room and stood in front of the pedestal. On the stone column was a necklace of sorts, an amulet if you will.

"What is this? It doesn't seem harmful..." I looked over my shoulder to make sure no pony was behind me.

When it was confirmed that the coast was clear, I smirked and grabbed the amulet and put it on.

At first, nothing happened.

"This is a pretty cool necklace. I wonder of anyon- Erm, anypony would notice it was gone."

Suddenly, a flash of light shone from the amulet. At first it had appeared as an ornate, yet simple accessory. But that was only a disguise. The true form of this neckwear was none other than the Alicorn Amulet.

"W-wait what?!" I struggled to get the amulet off, pulling on it as hard as I could. But it was to no avail.

"Craaaaap... This can't end well. Wait... Do I have magic now?"

I swirled my hands in circles, which caused two small orbs of dark energy to form. I gasped at the sight. I guess it was a little too loud because two guards stood at the doorway.

One of the guards yelled, "Halt! Don't you move!" at me, angrily.

I turned toward them, a little worried, but still composed. "Please, just move along and pretend you didn't see me, so I don't have to hurt you. I didn't come here to fight anypony, but I will defend myself."

Both the guards laugh. "As if you could control the Alicorn Amulet! You aren't even a naturally magical being!!!"

The guards continued to laugh. So I decided to try something. I sighed and focused all my strength into making the orbs bigger. My hands swirled faster and more violently. The spheres of dark energy slowly grew and grew.

The guards seemed shocked that I was able to do this. "W-what is he doing?! He's... H-he's controlling uncontrollable magic!!! Somepony get the Celestial Sisters and Twilight!!" They ran out, still shouting. "THEY NEED TO SEE THIS!!!"
