3; Lost Love's Thunder

Rain drops.
Never stops.

It's like the tears that fall.

Drip, splash.
Lightning flash.

I'd not a chance at all.

When did we end?
What did I do?

Was I not enough for you?

Why did you go?
Where do I turn?

It's over now; left to burn.

I dreamt of you.
I tried to say

Three short words.

I couldn't, that day.

Gone now.
Lost forever.

A like, a love.
A flame, a treasure.

Doused. Stolen.
There's no retry.

Without a spark,
This love will die.

No more "us."
No more "we."

Spliced apart:
You and me.

But wait!

What's that?

A shock of thunder.

Doorbell rings.
A stare, in wonder.

Open up.
You're standing there.

What is this?
I thought I'd ne'er...

Come inside.
It's been a while.

You must've walked
Through rain a mile.

I'm sorry
What I said to you.

Not a single
Word was true.

Remember back
To our first dance.

Won't you give me
One last chance?

It seems
The light of love is spent.

This:
My fear and my lament.

It's true.

Three words are overdue.

We talk no more,
You and I.

Final farewell
Tears up my eye.

And when you leave,
My heart is broken.

I try to forget;
I watch the tokens

Reminiscent of tears:
Drops of rain.

That link between us,
Never again.

No.

It cannot end.

Not like this.

I grab a slicker.
It's you I miss.

A cannon peal
Of thunder boom.

Racing through
Streets' flooded spume.

There you are.
I catch up nigh.

Close 'nough now
To hear you cry.

Reaching out,
See your face.

Wrapping you
In heart's embrace.

Rain drops.
Never stops.

It's like my love for you.
