Beneath the blooming cherry tree
A blossom fluttered down to meIt slipped into my open hand
And rested there as light as airAnd I wept for the past
As my heart travelled back
To the last time I held
Something so beautifulYour hand -
It used to fit with mineIt was smaller, younger
But you did not mindWhen we together walked beneath
Springtime blooming cherry treesBlossoms caught your breezy hair
We breathed the sweetest late-March airBut when you dropped my hand
I squoze tighter
At nothingYou were gone
That fist stayed closed
It would not open
I missed you much
I felt so brokenThen I found hope
A'last unclenched my fistFor today the blooming cherry tree
Shared this secret thought with meI must live with open hand
If another blossom is to land
