It's a long, long climb
For legs so lame
Working back to the top
To the top of my gameI'm hanging in
With a climber's grip
My hands are sweating
Won't let my fingers slipI'm going till I reach
Mountaintop
I'm working hard
I'll never stopNever stop
Excelsior
To mountaintop
To peak, to torMy feet are blistered
Old scabs bleed free
I won't quit now
No stopping meThe summit sighted
My far-off goal
Almost there
But I am not wholeAnd I'm going till I reach
Mountaintop
I'm working hard
I'll never stopNever stop
I try my best
To mountaintop
To finish and restStruggling, fighting
This uphill war
The last is the roughest
Can't take any moreCollapse in the dirt
Dejected, infected
By spirit of despair
The prince of the airBut I'm going till I reach
Mountaintop
I'm working hard
I'll never stopNever stop
I fight the fight
To mountaintop
And into the nightThen out of the sky
Your hand stretches down
You're lifting me up
From cold, rocky groundDusting me off
Saying You're proud
Giving me courage
Warmth like a shroudAnd we're going till we reach
Mountaintop
I'm working hard
You'll never stopNever stop
Your love, I see
To mountaintop
The end, with me
