Alexander squinted, trying to make out the three figures that walked into the small basement.

"Hello, Mr. FBI~" One of them sang, their voice thick with a British accent. It sounded vaguely familiar.

"Heyeo." Hamilton replied, trying to sound as calm and friendly as possible, as if he had just met them on the street and not tied up in their basement.

The British guy walked forward, flanked by James and Maria Reynolds. Alex watched them all carefully, eyes darting back and forth.

"Oh, my pet. My friend here warned you to leave us alone." The British guy scolded, gently caressing Alexander's cheek in an attempt to make him uncomfortable.

But, instead of flinching away, Alex preened into his touch, closing his eyes tightly and pretending it was Jefferson's long-fingered hand.

The British man pulled away with a scowl. "No. You don't get me anymore."

Anymore?

Alex snapped his eyes open and looked up into the face of his kidnapper. "Whaat?" He mumbled over the rag in his mouth.

"Oh? You don't remember me?" The British man went down on his knees and into a begging position, clamping his hands together and staring up desperately at Alex in a mocking fashion.

"Oh, Alexander! Please, don't leave me! I love you! Oh, please!"
Hamilton's eyes widened. "Geoge Keeng?!" He yelped. George smiled wickedly.

"N-no, no 'ay." Alex blundered around the gag, suddenly recognising the face of his past lover.

"Here's his apartment." Lafayette said as they let themselves in, the door unusually unlocked.

Jefferson looked around, noticing how incredibly dirty the place was. He frowned, squatting down to inspect further. There was red stuff, he hoped it wasn't blood, smeared on the dishes and vases scattering the room.

"Oh, God. Gil, this is blood. And there's so much..." Thomas said quietly, feeling a fear he had been repressing bloom in his chest.

"Ne paniquez pas, Thomas. Étudions simplement un pue que nous dírons à Washington.(Don't panic, Thomas. Let's just investigate a bit more, then we'll tell Washington.)" Lafayette replied soothingly, not realizing he'd responded in French. The frenchman pat him on the back and started towards Hamilton's bedroom. Thomas smiled weakly, he could tell Lafayette was afraid too, he only spoke in French nowadays when he was anxious or trying to show off.

Thomas stood back up and went into Alexander's room, meeting a stunned Lafayette.

The room had a large bloodstain on the floor, and it seemed like whoever was there had stolen things from Alex. Thomas walked slowly around the room, inspecting every nook and cranny.

There was a note hiding in between the crack in the door.

"Laf, look at this." Thomas muttered, pulling it out and unfolding it. The handwriting looked quickly scratched out and messy. Thomas read it aloud:

"Dear sir, I hope this letter finds you in good health, and in a prosperous enough position to put wealth in the pockets of people like me, who have you trapped in a corner, as you see, your boyfriend has now went with his former.

-Love, A Friend Who Wants This Nonsense To End."

"What the fuck?!" Lafayette exclaimed, grabbing the note from Jefferson and reading it over again.

"I can see where the boyfriend part came from, but 'his former'?" Lafayette asked, glancing at Jefferson. Thomas looked deep in thought.

"James Reynolds wrote that." Jefferson said.

"What? How do you know?"

"Angelica and Peggy and I all took a look into his past last night. Turns out, he used to blackmail people into giving him money. He would force his wife to seduce someone and then force the person to pay him money if he wanted them to not tell their spouse. Eventaully, someone tattled and he was put in jail for a year or two." Jefferson explained hastily as he ran out the door and down the stairs, Lafayette close behind.

They knew what they had to do.

But first, they needed someone to help them out.
