One restless night later, nurses were going in and out of Alex's room to take his blood, give him shots, rebandage his wounds, etc. Alex didn't care much, he was too busy being hyped to see Thomas again.

He hoped Thomas was okay. If he decided to die, Alex swore he'd bring him back to life just to yell at him for being so idiotic.

--

Alex wondered what the relationship between Thomas and him would be when, if, they got out of the hospital.

Would they be enemies? No, they obviously cared a lot for each other.
Lovers? While it seemed quite tempting, that may be a little too far to reach right now.
Boyfriends? That sounded almost childish. He couldn't even imagine two mature men over thirty referring to each other as that.

So what was Jefferson to him?

Alexander sighed, finally deciding on 'My Thomas' before pushing away the thought train for later. Right now, he had guests.

"Hey, Hammie-boy! How are you? Are you okay?" Peggy asked as she waltzed into the room, Angelica and Eliza behind her.

Eliza.

Hamilton hadn't seen her much since the courtroom. She looked just like she used to, give or take her much shorter hair and lack of blue garments. He forced a smile.

"I'm fine. Angelica, Eliza," It was weird saying her name so calmly. The last time they'd talked was full of rage.

"And Peggy." Peggy said with a wink.

Alex laughed gently. "How are you guys?"

"We're fine. Just worried for you." Angelica replied, taking a seat on the long couch.

"Have you seen Thomas yet?" Peggy asked as she plopped herself beside Angelica.

Alexander shook his head slowly. "No, not yet. I want to see him as soon as possible, though." He glanced at Eliza, who watched him with faint concern from the doorway.

"We could take you, if you'd like. The doctor probably recommends you to go in a wheelchair, and someone needs to push your ass." Peggy mused with a teasing grin.

Alex fidgeted. "Er, yeah. Okay."

He didn't want to seem rude, but he'd rather go with Mulligan or Laurens. They'd be more... Understanding, to say the least.

"We don't have to stay there with you if you don't want us to." Eliza spoke up. "I know you and I haven't spoken in almost a year. We can just drop you off over there if you prefer." Eliza had an understanding smile playing across her features. Her sisters looked surprised as they both nodded.

Of course, Eliza could read him like a letter. She knew how he'd react to something he didn't agree with.

Alex grinned appreciatively. "Yes, I'd like that, thank you. Now, one of you get your ass over there and grab me a wheelchair, I wanna get outta bed."

"You're so bossy." Angelica scolded playfully, before leaving the room to grab the desired item.

A few minutes of silence later  and Angelica was rolling back in with a wheelchair, looking at Alexander expectantly. Like he knew how to get up without messing up all the shit attached to him.

After a moment of confused silence, Angelica muttered, "Get up, we can roll your IV with you."

Alex nodded and forced his aching body into a sitting position, grimacing at the great pain that insued.

"You need help?" Peggy pipped up. He swore he had way too many parental friends.

Alex mumbled a "No," and immediately swung his heavy legs over the bed, revealing his boxers under a blue polka-dotted hospital gown. He cringed.

"Hercules would be disappointed." Alex joked, standing up slowly on his sleepy legs and grabbing the IV pole to steady himself. Alexander hated feeling so helpless.

---

"Here we are." Peggy announced, walking forward and knocking on the door. #1789, just a few doors down from Alexander's.

"Come in," A subdued voice responded.

Peggy opened the door, revealing an elderly woman standing beside a busted-up Thomas.

"Oh! Are you Tommy's friends?" The woman asked, smile welcoming. She gave a curious look at Hamilton but said nothing.

Angelica replied, "Yes, ma'am. I'm Angelica Schuyler, and these are my sisters, Eliza, and Peggy." She gestured to the two women.

Peggy grinned at the inside joke.

"And I'm Alexander Hamilton.
Thomas's partner." Alex elbowed Angelica, a silent command to push him beside the hospital bed. Angelica rolled her eyes but obeyed.

"So, you're Hamilton! Thomas talks about you all the time." The woman laughed. "Wish I could say everything he said was nice."
Alex chuckled.

"Oh, I'm being so rude! My name is Jane. I'm Thomas's mum." Jane introduced, shaking Hamilton's right hand, one of the few things spared during his torture.

"Great to meet you, ma'am."

"Nice to meet you, too. Now, I must be heading off, I've been here for over an hour and I need to get back to my husband." She explained, grabbing her purse from the floor. "Plus, you probably want to talk to Thomas without this old lady watching over you." Jane said with a good-natured laugh and started towards the door.

"Okay. I hope to see you again sometime." Alex called after her. Jane nodded and left.

Alex turned back to Thomas, and winced.

Jefferson looked strung out, tubes coming out of his nostrils and arms, and his usually fluffy hair was dull and matted. Alexander watched his chest rise and fall.

"We'll leave you to it." Angelica told him a minute later, grabbing her sisters and whisking them out of the room with her.
