Chapter Thirty

P.O.V. of Jade

Garra had started to make a growling noise and when following his eyes I saw the Hokage with some other leader. It must be the Kazekage, Garra's father.

"Welcome all, and our deepest thanks for coming here to the village hidden in the leaves for this year's Chunin selection. We have come to the final competition between the nine candidates who made it through the preliminaries. We ask that no one leaves until all the matches have been completed. Now everyone enjoy," the Hokage says before the crowd breaks out in screams.

"Oh there's one more thing before we get started," The new instructor says. He pulls out a sheet of paper that shows who is fighting who, " look it over. There has been a slight change in the matchups. But now it's set, so everyone take one last look at who we will be fighting." I look closely and see I am fighting the winner between Naruto and Neji. Shika was against Garra's sister. I hold his hand tighter.

"Uh question? Question." Naruto says raising his hand.

"What is it?" The instructor says while putting the paper away.

"I was just wondering what happened to Sasuke. I mean if he doesn't show up."

"If a candidate is not here in the arena by the time his name is called he forfeits the match." Naruto swallows hard, and looks toward the entrance. I sigh thinking sasuke might not come.

"All right listen up. The train is different but the rules are the same as before. That is that there are no rules. And that continues till one candidate it knowledges the feet or die. That being said I can determine if a match is over and stop it at any time. And no arguments permitted. Understood? These are the opponents for the first match, Naruto and Neji. Those two stay, the rest of you can go to the waiting area." I pat Naruto lightly on the shoulder and slowly walk away with Shika.

We head up the the second level and watch the match slowly start down below. Neji and Naruto were just talking for a while. The strange feeling was still in the air. I close my eyes and breathe, hoping that would help calm me.

"all right now but the first match begin." The instructor said for making the crowd go wild. I leaned against the railing and watch closely. Both Negi and Naruto just stand there looking at each other. Neji moves closer slowly, Naruto throws kunai but Neji blocks them easily as Naruto runs at him. I hear kiba yell from the crowd but I keep my eyes on the fight. Naruto tries to punch him but Neji easily deflects them. Naruto continues with the forward attack but doesn't land one punch.

"Come one Naruto use your head!" I yell down to him.  Neji land a blow and it knocks the air out of him. He can see naruto's chakra points. "Naruto don't let him touch you!"  But he goes fly after Neji touches his shoulder but Neji doesn't look too happy. Did he miss?
