Chapter seventeen

P.O.V. of Jade

I turn to see that sasuke was standing up with a purple chakra radiating from him.

"Sasuke?" I ask but it comes out weakly.

"Jade, Sakura. Who did this to you?" He asks. I just stare at him for a while, his cruse mark has spread farther on his body.

"S-sasuke..." I say quietly, then start to cough up more blood.

"Who hurt you, Jade?"

"Sasuke, what happened to you?" Sakura asks in distress.

"Don't worry. I'm okay, I've never felt better actually. It's only the power running through me. He gave this gift and he made me understand who I am. I'm an avenger and go follow my path I must have power. At any price, even if it means being consumed by evil." We all just stare at him, shocked. "So tell me which one of these guys did this to you?"

"That would be me," Zaku says with a smirk. Shika yells for Ino to get back to her body so that they could get out of Sasuke's way. I start to stand up, seeing sasuke eyeing down Zaku. The make starts to turn fire red and spread across his body.

Zaku starts to say something about taking us all out but Dosu tried to tell him to stop as he puts his hands toward us. He does a sonic wave but I was able to grab naruto and sasuke grabs Sakura and we jump out of the way ending up behind the two.

"Well what do you know, I blew them all away," Zaku says with his signature smirk.

"Not quite," Sasuke says as he punches Zaku, hard. He flies all the way back toward Dosu. Sasuke starts to do a hand sign, faster then I've ever seen before, it was the Phoenix Flower Jutsu. As the flames go toward Zaku, he puts them out but Sasuke had hidden shirikin in them. Zaku wasn't fast enough to dodge them. Out of nowhere, Sasuke appears next to Zaku with both of his hands pulling zaku's arms back and his foot in the middle of this back.

"You seem very proud of these arm of yours. You must be very attached to them."

"No... What are you doing?!" Zaku says in a panic. Sasuke then breaks not zaku's shoulders out of socket and the pain makes him pass out. At this point I'm up and rushing the Sasuke as he walks toward Dosu. I grab him and hold him.

"Sasuke stop... This isn't you. It's him, the power. I know the feeling is amazing, but it can make you do things you don't want to do. Please stop," I look up and see him staring at me with his sharingan eyes, looking through me. " Don't let it take you over, not yet... We need you. Don't let it consume you... Not right now," I start to cry from the pain running through my head. His power was starting to feed into me and pushing that power down is hard. He suddenly collapses and I see the mark recede back to only being on his neck.

Dosu gives us his scroll in order for us to let him and his team go, but I zone out as Sakura starts to ask questions about Orochimaru. The pain running through me feel like a fire in my veins. I feel someone's arms holding me, I look up and see that it is Sasuke. He is panting but looking better then before. I hear choji yell something and then suddenly Shika was pulling me into his arms. I look at Sasuke and see that he is shaking.

"Just what am I?" He asks. I sigh and put my face into shika's chest. I've lived my whole life asking myself that question...
