Chapter twenty-two

P.O.V. of Kakashi

I bring sasuke to a back room and start to seal his curse mark. I do hand signs and when I touch him, Sasuke screams in pain.

"This sealing is only as strong as you are. If your will weakens so will the seal. Never begin to doubt yourself or the curse will be released and all its fury," as I say this Sasuke falls to the floor and passes out, "amazing, too tired to even argue."

" my, how you've grown. To think you've become strong enough to perform the curse sealing jutsu," I hear a snake like voice say. I slowly turn around.

"You.."

"Long time no see Kakashi," I stare at him, Orochimaru. He was right in front of me. "No offense, Kakashi.  But I didn't come to see you. My business is with the boy and the little one you took under your care."

"What do you want with Sasuke and Jade?"

"Haha... you've acquired something new, how I envy your fortune. I don't believe you had it the last time we met. Did you?" This makes me mad. He is talking about my eye...  "The gift, the Sharingon in your left eye. It's only fair that I should want it too. The Uchiha power. I gave it to Kyūseishu and I want it back. Along with Sasuke."

"What's your game?" I ask, standing in a more protective stance, ready to fight if I have to.

"This sound village that everyone is curious about. It's mine. I created it. I think you understand without me saying anymore."

"Hmmph- you and your wild eyed ambition."

"he he- oh yes indeed. As always but the play the game as you put it, I need pieces on the chessboard, willing pawns to do my bidding."

"And Sasuke and Jade are one of your pawns?"

"oh not pawns, they are far more valuable pieces than that, but as far as the others. Well you know how it is in the game of chess. Pieces must be sacrificed." He says with an eve grin as he slowly starts to walk toward me.

"stop don't come any closer," I say as I get in my stance for Chidori. "I don't care if you are one of the Sabin, the three shinobi of legend. I swear, take one more step towards Sasuke or get anywhere near Jade and one of us will die." The chirping of the chidori fills the air as Orochimaru starts to laugh.

"Funny is it?" I say getting more angered.

"Poor Kakashi, all your noble effort's, all in vain."

"what?"

"Do you really believe the seal will hold? Do you think you can keep him, from what he truly desires? You know I'm right. A heart like his, that hungers for only one thing, will not be denied. No matter what obstacles he put in his path, he's an avenger isn't he? And for Kyūseishu she will seek to know her potential, and only I am one who can teach her all she can do."

" you think you can take advantage of them like that? Not Sasuke. And not Jade."

"You can't stop it, at some point Sasuke will come to me and so will Kyūseishu. Both of them looking for power."

"Jade doesn't care about power."

"don't forget, she is my blood." With that Orochimaru starts to walk away, "unless of course you carry out your threats to kill me, now is your chance. Take it, I dare you." After saying that he disappeared.

I stand there shaking, one of us will die here? I must have been out of my mind. I think to myself. I relax and take a deep breath. I look over at Sasuke and take him to the infirmary. I leave to head back to see the rest of team. I couldn't have missed too much.
