Listening out, I hear the loud bell signaling the sound of break - yet I can't escape.
Perhaps that's for the best.
The creek of the office door as it swings open brings the entrance of a shadow. It looks different to Miss Shaile. It seems slightly larger, and with much more of an authority. Peering up I cast my eyes on the Deputy Head.
Most people in this role are less frightening, yet that certainly wasn't the case for Mrs Bale. Today, her hair has pulled up into a tight doughnut bun, making her glistening forehead even more noticeable. Her smart, grey suit stretched over her slightly larger figure; she had her glasses perched on the end of her nose.
"Afternoon dear Kacey," she says in a patronizing way, "have you been having problems?"
"I've been having problems all my life Miss if you haven't noticed," I snap.
"Of course I noticed my dear," she smirks, "I was up to my eyes in paperwork from your little show in English."
"He was making fun of my Mum!"
"What Mum," she whispers.
"How dare you sa-"
"All I see is a little child who needs to stop moping about like anybody cares and grow up!"
"You don't know what it's like to be me!"
"Of course I don't," she whispers, " I would never lower myself to such a level."
"You can't sa-"
"I'm done with you," she seethes, "I don't understand what Miss Shaile sees in you, but she will soon understand what I'm saying."
With that she sharply turns and marches out of the door.
By that point I'm staring at the floor, refusing to meet Miss Shaile's eyes.
"I'm sorry," she says calmly, "It's standard procedure."
"What do you see in me Miss?"
Miss Shaile takes a sharp intake of breath. At this point I decide to look up.
"I see somebody who needs help, she says, "I'm going to do everything possible to support you."
"Can you help me with one main thing Miss?"
"Anything Kacey," she says.
"Can you help me close my third eye?"
"Yes I can."
