Yvette lives in LA and Jeonghan lives in Korea. He's really focused on learning English. He does really well with it too. So he manages to save up money to fly to LA and attend a Justin Timberlake concert (because who wouldn't) and spend a week exploring.
As fate would have it Yvette was attending the exact same concert. She walks into the venue and takes a look around as other fans are squealing with their friends and looking for their seats. Someone accidentally rams into her knocking both of them down.
She's ready to yell at the person to watch where they're going but decides to take a look instead. It's a dainty asian boy with long brown hair. He's nervously scrambling to his feet and immediately extending a hand to help her.
In his excitement he miraculously forgot the english language. In a thick Korean accent he apologizes and explains himself. She say's it's alright and then proceeds to help him find his seat. What luck that they would be sitting side by side.
They started talking as they waited for the arena to fill. They hit it off and exchanged snapchat names. Once Justin comes out they're clinging on to one another jumping up and down. Neither cared that it was quite a girly thing to do.
After the concert they decide to get food. They laugh and learn more about one another. The next morning Yvette messages him asking if he'd like her to show him around town. By the end of the week they'd spent nearly all their time together.
In the last few hours before he boards his plane they're running around an empty playground. Spinning on the merry go round, soaring on the swings and climbing through the jungle gym.
They tried to ignore the fact that they would soon be so far apart.
Jeonghan stood at the foot of thee slide Yvette was on. When she came down they shared a look. Neither was sure what it meant. She pulled on his white t-shirt and crashed her lips into his. He cupped her cheek with one hand and griped the plastic wall of the slide. They placed rapid aggressive kisses against each other's lips. They didn't care that they were breathless or their lips were throbbing. The feel of the others tongue and skin was too good. No reason would make them part but the giggles of several little girls.
Blushes covered their cheeks as they ran off. They weren't sure what that make out session meant for them. With the distance what could it mean for them?
Though it was a bit tense with these thoughts they still held hands as they made their way around town and eventually to the airport. They wait for the plane to start boarding. He pulls her into a hug mere seconds before announcements echo from the speakers overhead. They didn't want to separated and the sad look in her eyes was enough to kill him.
He kisses her lips one last time before boarding his plane.
The first few weeks consisted of randomly timed snaps avoiding the topic of what happened the last day. Eventually they work out the time zones and figure out times where they can chat instantly back and forth.
There comes a point where Jeonghan can't stand it anymore and records himself asking Yvette to be his girlfriend. They talk for hours, though Yvette should be asleep, discussing how it would work with the distance. Finally they agree that they'd ride it out. See how it all went.
They easily confided in one another with things they couldn't tell anybody else. They laughed, had inside jokes, and serious conversations. Many times he would send her pictures of places he wanted to take her on a date or little things he bought for her which he planned on giving her one way or another.
A faithful and loving year and a half passed before they hit their first real bump. The topic was about how serious they were getting. If they really cared about each other one would have to move. It was a daunting thought for both of them. They were very close to their families and the thought of leaving them hurt. But the thought of not being together hurt just as much.
They made a plan that since Jeonghan had already seen her home that next she should see his. So they planned and saved up some money and before they knew it Yvette was on a flight to Korea. He hugged her tight the moment he saw her. She kissed him quickly before they made their way out into the open air.
He took her to his apartment and showed her all of the cute things he's bought her. Hair clips, dresses, and shoes. And he saved the best for last. He pulled out a small box inside were two rings. Pure silver with a star shaped hole cut out of the middle. He slipped one on her finger and the other on his matching one.
He gave her a cheesy line about being brighter than all the stars in the universe. Of course she loved the couples rings and showered him with kisses.
He took Yvette around the city. He bought her street food to try, most of which she loved. They ended the night with a few bottles of soju. He'd suggested a lighter bottle of rice wine but she couldn't be deterred. They left rosy pink cheeks and a slow sway in their walk.
They laid in bed just enjoying each others warmth. Jeonghan rolled on his side looking over her. He admired how her curls laid against the pillow and how her smooth tanned skin glowed in the moonlight. He left drunken kisses across her neck and chest. The morning left then with a surprise hickey on her collar bone.
They explored the city and eventually met his parents. In the year and a half they'd been dating they taught one another their native languages. She knew enough by now to hold a fairly decent conversation.
