'AAAHHHH!!!' I shot wide awake, panting hard. 'Gods Grover is loud!'
'Who is loud?' Came a muffled voice through the walls. Carter opened the door with a confused look on his face. 'What happened?'
'The dream you warned me about? Well, it happened.'
'Oh?' Carter sat down on the bed beside me. 'What did you dream about?'
'About my friends. They were in trouble, chased by some storm spirits, but they made it to Camp Half-Blood safely. I hung around long enough to watch them pick their weapons and fight off the Ares cabin. That part was funny. But I woke up after an ear-splitting yell from Grover, saying "Perrrrrrrcy!" Didn't even get to see his face, but I guess by the way Grover said it, so I guess Percy just arrived.'
'Percy is a great person.' Carter said wistfully. 'He's saved my life more than a few times the last times we met. Sadie loves the guy.'
'Loves him?' I teased, 'I thought Walt was her boyfriend?'
'But Percy's taken.' Carter joked back. 'And Sadie is too.'
'Hmm... should I tell her that?'
'Don't you dare.'
I laughed. 'How long was I asleep?'
'Entire day. It's 7:30 now, you hungry?'
'Entire day?' I echoed. 'Wasn't it like, 6:00 when I fell asleep?'
'About so.'
'How did I sleep for so long? I missed dinner?'
'Hey, I did ask if you were hungry.'
'Ugh...' I felt like I wanted to throw up everything that I ate yesterday, except that I had eaten almost nothing yesterday. I suddenly realized that apart from breakfast, Ambrosia and magical drink Sadie had given me, I hadn't eaten anything yesterday. My stomach growled just thinking of it. 'Where is the buffet room again?'
'Come on, I'll show you.'
Carter led me past the labyrinth of doorways and lead me to the buffet table. I immediately grabbed some plates and bowls and started to fill in. Hey, it's called buffet for a reason.
Too late, when I walked back to the table, using the wind to pick up a spoon, I realized that I wasn't the only one alone. My new friends were sitting all around me, watching on in shock. My spoon hovered awkwardly in the air. I slowly grabbed it and put it down.
'So, Chris!' Carter flared his eyes at me in understanding. 'I see you've been practising magic with your wand lately!'
'Uh, yeah!' I stammered, trying to keep up with the bluff. 'It's really cool, I uh...'
Carter secretly passed me two wands. I waved them in the air, pretending to control my cutlery with them. I made the knife and fork spar with each other as the younger trainees gasped in amazement.
'How do you do that?' Cleo gasped.
'You have to show me that!' Felix cried. 'I want to make my penguins fly!'
'I wanna make things fly!' 6-year-old Shelby squealed.
'Uh, It's really hard, and I'm not a good teacher, why don't you ask Carter? He was the one who taught me!' I turned their attention to my good friend, who raised his eyes in alarm as the trainees all turned towards him.
'Yeah, about that, It's very hard magic,' He said, giving me a glare. 'We'll see how good you are with your wands before teaching you this trick.'
'But what about him?' Shelby pouted, pointing her crayon at me. 'How come he gets to make things fly?'
