There is a boy in my school who is bullied for self harming and that makes him do it more. I have always felt bad for him but I have been too afraid to speak up. Today, in class, they were teasing him again. "Go home and kill yourself!" they said. "Cut yourself again! Or cut your throat, which is easier?" I was so angry that I stood up in the middle of the lesson and pulled up both of my sleeves to reveal my years of scars. They froze and went silent. "Be careful what you say, because if he did die, who would be in jail for his death? It takes a lot of hate to cut yourself you know, and he has the strength to show them. So go; he is going to look at those scars and hate himself more and it makes me sick that you would take the piss out of a serious mental illness!" I froze in realisation and everyone was silent. Then the whole class slowly started to clap including the teacher and the boy started to hug me. We sat down and the boys got expelled. We spent our day showing each other all of our scars and telling each other about our stories.
