Roman X Reader: Merman Circumstances

Prompt: Merman *choose any side* x Reader

She and *chosen side* (In this case Roman) have been seeing each other by a desolate area of the beach for months now and, while she's early to see him one day, she ends up over thinking and worrying about the idea that he might not think she'd take any risks for him because of the amount of risks he takes to see her. She decides to ease that thought by swimming down deeper waters to either see him or die trying (<? Was that a typo?). As her vision is starting to fade, *chosen side* stops her from swimming any deeper and brings her back to shore along with helping her wake up. He questions what she was thinking, she explains her concerns, and he turns out to be more understanding than she thought (not just about her thoughts, but about the circumstances). They end up kissing as the sun goes down and sleeping in each other's arms as the stars appear.

Is it a little weird or late to say Roman seems kinda fitting for this?

(Also, Let's just say Roman knows proper English alright, he's not Ariel, and also, apparently, I forgot how to Reeead...so I changed it up a bit, sorry.)

It was almost 9 o'clock at night, why Y/n was going to the beach at this time? Well, she was visiting a friend.

She met him a few months ago, right here at this beach,

Y/n was running away, tears blocked her vision but she ran, her tears drying up for her to see that she was at the beach, she didn't live far from where the beach was located, just in an apartment complex on the border.

The reason why she ran is unknown since she hasn't told anyone.

She took off her slip-on's and carried them while her feet dragged across in the shallow water, The time was dark, the only lights on were the street lights a few distances away, and the moon, making the water shimmer,

The waves crashed slowly, back and forth, back and forth, the light reflected something swimming in the waters.

She walked closer to it as it too came closer to the shore. Y/n thought it was just a fish, a rather big fish swimming by, but once its head poked out, it resembled a human's face.

The fish drove back in the water to hide, but it was close enough for Y/n to see it's reflection. She walked closer, she had no problem with swimming deeper into the water since she was wearing shorts and a top she didn't care about getting wet,

The now recognizable features of a Man had also a bright red fin?! Which had sparkles that had specks of purple and a different shade of red, a more ruby?

Dark purple shortish hair was waving back and forth by the waves. His tail was swishing in the beat of a heartbeat.

"Hello?" Y/n had no idea what was going on but she replied,

"Hi, I-um I'm Y/n" Why am I talking to a fish!? And why isn't it scared of me?

"Prince-Roman Sanders," Y/n tilted her head in confusion.

"And you are a-?"

"Merman, I'm surprised that you aren't surprised," His voice was addicting to listen to,

"That's cool" Y/n awed,

"I should probably go, No one is supposed to see me,"

"Oh, ok, um goodbye?"

"Yeah, bye" Roman said as he swam back under the water and slowly swam away,

It was the next day, but later in the night, 12 o'clock midnight roughly as Y/n was walking in the waters again,

She met the same, person? no Merman again by the shore.

"Hi, there" Y/n walked over,

"Oh, Hello," Roman smiled, His plan did work,

They talked for longer this time, but Roman soon had to leave, once again.

They talked and met secretly for the past month or so, Always at night where no one could find or spot any of them,

She reached the water and walked around for a bit, hoping to find Roman again,

She walked for a long time, but Roman didn't come, She might've just been a bit early, or she was just wasting his time, or he doesn't think she's willing to take the risk of being caught,

Dropping her shoes down close to the edge of the beach waters she slowly made her way swimming in the cold waters, her thoughts collided with her actions and she started breathing in the ocean accidentally, forgetting how to breathe again her vision was blurred then everything was black and in slow motion as she felt water crashing around her.

"Roman! Where are you going!?" One of my many brothers asked I was about to sneak away to find that girl again,

"Just for a night swim, and maybe to find more seaweed," I turned back to the open seas,

"Roman! I've seen you swim away and come back with nothing, so I know that's a lie!" Everyone else is sleeping so I quickly swam over to him and covered his mouth,

"Shhh! Don't wake anyone up!" I whisper yelled,

"Then answer my question" He mumbled,

"Can I tell you tomorrow? Please, I promise, just not now"

"Fine,"

"And don't tell anyone else, please. I don't want to get in trouble, Again," I begged,

"Sure, fine" He sighed, I nodded then swam off, I looked up at the moon seeing that I was late,

I hope she didn't leave...

I hear splashes and the water was more agitated than usual, I swam closer and saw a human floating a few levels under the water, I quickly realized that it was Y/n and flapped my fin as fast as I could.

She started sinking, even more, I carried her through the water, staying close to where the water and air meet,

As soon as I reached the sand and air I started giving her compressions on her chest, I leaned in to blow air through her lungs mouth to mouth, and she started coughing after I've done that multiple times,

"Y/n!" She was still coughing, after she regained herself, I hugged her,

"What on earth were you thinking?" I asked concerned, how did she jump into the water almost drowning!?

"I-I, uh" Tears were on the edge of her eyes, the moon making them sparkle, and my heart ached, she wiped them away and continued,

"I thought you had left me and thought I didn't take enough risks for you, like how you do, so I tried- I tried going in there to look for you,"

"Y/n! You don't need to do that, I like you for how you are-I mean, what?"

"Roman?" She coughed,

"Ye~" I was pulled into an unexpected kiss, Once my brain processed what happened I melted to her touch,

By true love's kiss, I had my lower body back!

I didn't feel it at first until we separated and saw that my legs were back, and then they started tingling, like needles, maybe because of the amount of blood suddenly appearing.

I pulled her into another kiss and we both sat on the beach for the rest of the night...

"I love you,"

"I love you too."
