A/N: Ahhhhhhh…. at last…. it’s Chapter 40!!!!! I can’t believe I’ve actually written this much! The total word count for the story is something crazy like 135, 800+ but I am so glad to add this chapter in as well! I hope you like it and like always I would love to hear what you think about this chapter and the story as it progresses. Thanks for all your support though and I won’t keep you any longer, but just a massive thank you and happy reading! :) x

No one spoke much on the way over but the driver introduced himself as Derek and seemed just as keen to get us to the office as Liam had been. “Now Louis, do you still need my help?” We had only driven a few blocks down the road when Liam turned to face me, seeming calmer now that we were on our way to Nora, but I knew that now wasn’t the time to vent about my possibly non-existent relationship problems. “No it’s fine. I’m fine, I just hope Nora is too.”

(LIAM’S POV)

“Good you’re here, I uh, I can’t apologize enough for this. I didn’t think that it would lead to anything this drastic. I was merely trying to help but-” Simon was waiting for us in the lobby when we piled out of the car and we were met with an onslaught of apologies as we made our way to the elevators. “But what?” Niall spoke through gritted teeth but a slight nudge in the ribs from Zayn told him that he should wait until Simon explained everything before he got worked up over the situation. “What do you mean you’re sorry? Simon what did you do?” Harry had pushed to the front of the group and was demanding answers from the man who looked like he had just seen a ghost. Instead of answering us though, he merely sighed and looked down at his feet, waiting for the doors to open so he wouldn’t have to answer any of our questions.

When the doors finally opened though I saw what he meant, and he damn well should have been sorry.

A sobbing Nora sat in an old office chair while a girl with hair as curly as Danielle’s sat beside her, her arm wrapped around Nora as she spoke to her in hushed, soothing tones. “Nora what’s wrong?” Louis got there before me as I took a moment to adjust to the scene before me. Nora looked broken, overwhelmed and hurting; I couldn’t stand to see her hurting. I wanted nothing more than to make her pain go away in a heartbeat, but nothing was ever that easy. “Oh I uh, I, I…” Nora’s breathing was heavy and she struggled to speak as she worked herself up again, chocking back her tears as her mouth failed to form the words she so desperately wanted to say. “No babe it’s okay, we’re here now it’s going to be okay.” I walked forward and crouched down in front of her, holding her fragile hands while the others huddled around us, unsure of what to do seeing as none of us knew exactly what had gone wrong.

“Now honey I need you to calm down so you can tell us what’s wrong… just take your time but we’re all here for you when you’re ready.” I watched her carefully as her breathing slowed and her wiped the tears from her eyes, calming herself down with each second that passed by on the clock hanging from the wall.

“Liam I don’t know what happened, everything was fine and then, it all came back.”

“What came back? Are you in pain? Did something happen to you?” We all called out a million questions but she just shook her head with such sadness in her eyes it made my heart break.

“Liam I remember everything, I remember you and I remember them. I remember everything but it hurts so much, because they’re not good memories Liam, and I just want to forget, I don’t want to remember anymore.” She was shaking her head and the other’s gasped as I leant forward and hugged her close, feeling her arms wrap around me as her face pressed into my shirt, the tears falling more steadily now as I struggled to comfort her.
