I didn’t even have to ask though as he turned around with a massive smile on his unshaven face, “Hey Nora, that was Lou, she wanted to know if you could babysit Lux today?”

(NORA’S POV)

“Come on love you’ll be fine. It’s just babysitting, what’s the worst that could happen?” Louis had been trying to convince me, for the better part of an hour, that nothing would go drastically wrong if I babysat Lux.

“The worst that could happen? How about everything! There could be a fire, or she could hurt herself, or what if she doesn’t like me or…" I sat down on the couch and took a few deep breaths. I could do this, couldn't I?

"Nora honey, calm down. She’s just a baby, you'll be fine." Liam had come over not long ago and had joined with the others in trying to get me to agree.

But Liam that's exactly my problem! She's a baby and even when I was a nanny before all the kids were over the age of three, I just don't know what I'd do if... if something went wrong." I seemed to have a jinx, that whenever things were going well for me a catastrophe would happen. Whether it was minor or major they still sucked and with everything falling back into place recently I just hoped that today wouldn't bring an end to my happiness.

"But just think of it as practice love, a trial run for what's gonna happen in, wait four months, yeah just a practice for your own baby." Harry was perched up in his usual spot, sitting on the kitchen counter in the other room, although there were no doors or walls separating the kitchen from the living room it was his own way of removing himself from everyone else.

"I know but what if I’m not ready? What if this just proves that I'm going to be another knocked up teenager who ends up being the stereotypical unfit mother!"

“Too late, I guess you’ll just have to find out." As if in unison all four of us stood up, and turned to face the door, where just a few seconds ago we had heard a slight knock, signaling Lou and Lux's arrival.

“I hate you." I childishly poked my tongue out at Louis but he just made another juvenile face back at me, as he slipped on a shirt from a pile on the bathroom floor.

"You love me."

"Bugger off." Stealing Harry's overused expression from earlier I opened the door and put on a fake smile that I hoped would pass off for genuine excitement.

"Nora!" Lou stood out in the hall with Lux on her hip and a large bag slung over her other shoulder.

"Hey Lou!" I reached forward and grabbed the bag from her as the other boys sprung forward and stole Lux away to play with her before they had to leave for their matinee concert that afternoon.

"I still can't thank you enough for doing this for me last minute! Lux's nanny had to work a double shift and only let me know this morning.

"Really it's no problem, anything I can do to help." I heard Harry snicker from the other room but Lou didn't seem to notice and she went on unpacking the bag onto the kitchen counter where Harry had sat just moments before.

"Well you're a life saver honestly, I'm still not too comfortable leaving her with strangers but because we know you so well now and Lux adores you, I knew I wouldn't have to worry if I left her in your capable hands."

I was about to answer her but was interrupted simultaneously by a knock on the door and Lux's high pitched giggle escaping her lips from the other room.

"I'll be right back," I left Lou to finish laying out Lux's assorted toys, games, spare clothes, food and everything else I would need to take care of her for the next few hours, to answer the door.
