Chapter 51: One of Us

"So I just have one question for you, a question to answer your question. Nora Sadie Styles, will you do me the honor of letting me share custody of our baby?”

(LIAM'S POV) 

"Wait no don't cry love, this probably isn't what you're expecting." She had begun to well up, the tears falling down her face and stopping at her smile. 

"It, it's not?" She stammered, raising her eyebrows slightly as she looked up at me and I squeezed her hand comfortingly. 

"Nora this is a promise ring, I want you to have it as solid proof that I'm not going anywhere. I want you to know that I'm ready, I'm ready to commit to you, and you deserve to know that." I saw Louis and Harry 'aw-ing' in the background but I stared up at her, waiting to finish my explanation and get the answer I was waiting for. 

"So, you, you want to share custody? You want to do this together? For real?" Her blue eyes grew wide and scared, as if she was expecting me to say no. 

"Of course, if you'll still let me, I want to do this. Us against the world,just you and me, and our baby." 

"Then.... yes! Yes, yes, one hundred times yes!" I dropped the box and picked her up, sweeping her up off her feet and kissing her like our lives depended on it. Not even caring that everyone was staring and cheering. It was just me and her in that moment, and I loved it. 

I set her down carefully and looked at her again, taking in every strand of her golden hair, each freckle on her nose, the sparkle in her eyes and the smile on her face. I wanted to remember this moment forever, it was perfect. 

"Good on ya mate, you finally did it!" Louis came by and clapped me on the shoulder before giving me a hug, it was nice to have his approval for this huge life changing decision. Nora had quickly rushed over and hugged Lara who had been crying with Harry, apparently they were happy about it too. 

"Why was I not in on this plan?" Harry came over to me after giving Nora a massive bear hug and talking quickly with Zayn. 

"Uhm, because if it didn't go as planned I didn't want everyone to know about it." He smirked before giving me a hug, but as I looked over his shoulder I saw Nora beaming over at me so I quickly excused myself from Harry, smiled back at Zayn when I passed him and picked up the little velvet box that had been tossed to the side just moments before. 

"Nora," I popped open the box and I saw Lara, Louis and Harry peaking over her shoulders to see the ring. Zayn looked over my shoulder but I knew Niall wouldn't be too upset about missing this, after all he had been the one to help me pick it out.

"My god Liam, it's beautiful." She breathed out, hardly taking her eyes off it as I smiled again; taking it out of the box. I slipped it onto her ring finger and it sparkled like her eyes as I saw a single tear roll down her porcelain cheek. She smiled up at me and stood up on her toes to give me a quick, but passionate, kiss. I held her hand and felt the cool touch of the ring against my own. It was simple enough but Niall and the saleswoman had assured me it was perfect. 

It was a simple silver band but as it got closer to the tip the two sides began to twist together in a knot, holding two diamonds together at the top. It was said to symbolize a couple, tied together at the top, so no matter what, they were always together.
