"Why do we have to wear these stupid things?" Godzilla asked, tugging on his tie. He, Rodan, Anguirus, Battra, and Baragon were all wearing tuxedos and walking down the streets of Tokyo. Their ties were all different colours. Godzilla's was green, Rodan and Baragon's were red, Anguirus' was orange, and Battra's was yellow. The others seemed unimpressed with their suits as well.
"The museum has a dress code, unfortunately." Battra said. They had been invited to the museum to see the newest exhibit. Apparently, it was an ancient golden mask that had appeared in many legends but had never been recovered until now.
"Oh come on, guys, it's not that bad." Mothra said. She was walking next to Godzilla, but she was wearing something much different. She was wearing a sparkling white dress with a small opening on the chest along with pearl earrings and dark rouge lipstick. Godzilla smiled as he saw her.
"You look beautiful." He complimented. Mothra blushed and fluttered her eyelashes at him, showing off her purple eyeshadow.
"You don't look so bad yourself." She said. Anguirus, Rodan, and Baragon rolled their eyes from behind them.
"Could you two save the flirting for after we get to the museum?" Baragon asked. Mothra couldn't help but giggle at his comment. Finally, they approached the museum. The curator of the museum was standing outside waiting for them. When he saw them, he rushed over.
"Oh, good, you've arrived." He said. "I assume you know why we've invited you here."
"Well, with a priceless artifact said to grant the user immense power in the room, I assume you wanted extra security." Godzilla guessed.
"That's pretty much right." The curator said. "But you're still welcome to enjoy the exhibit itself."
Godzilla nodded, and the 6 Kaiju headed into the building. The room was already packed. Nearly everyone was surrounding the new artifact, or at least talking about it. Eventually, Godzilla found himself looking at the mask. It appeared to be made of pure gold, and resembled an angry face with horns on the sides going down near the chin. Markings in an ancient language were all over it. Godzilla thought it looked pretty cool, but Mothra was absolutely enthralled.
"It looks amazing." She said. "According to legend, the mask was worn by an ancient power-hungry warrior, and that his spirit can still communicate with the world of the living through the mask."
"That's just a myth. There's no way that's real." Godzilla said. "It's still a pretty cool looking mask, though." Despite Godzilla and Mothra's interest in the mask, the others didn't seem as interested.
"So that's it? We came here to look at a mask?" Rodan asked.
"Well, that and the free food." Anguirus said, nodding towards a table of free food and drinks. Anguirus, Baragon, and Rodan immediately made their way over to the table. Godzilla rolled his eyes at them, while Mothra simply sighed.
"Well, Battra and I are going to check out some of the other exhibits." She said. "Want to join us?"
"Nah. I'm gonna stay here in case anything bad happens to the mask." Godzilla said. Mothra nodded and kissed him goodbye on the cheek before she and Battra left down one of the halls. Godzilla turned back to the mask. He was extremely interested in it for some reason. It was almost as if it was beckoning him.Under the guise of darkness, nobody seemed to notice an alien pod floating through the sky. Gigan, Hedorah, and Biolante landed on the roof of the museum, completely undetected. They dropped from the small pod, which they travelled in from Ghidorah's ship. Once they landed, Gigan placed a finger on his earpiece.
"Okay, we're here." He said.
"Good. You should be nearly on top of the mask." Ghidorah said through the earpiece. "Do whatever you must to get it, but do not damage it, and do not put it on. I want that mask."
"Got it." Gigan replied, taking his finger off the earpiece. He turned to the others. "Alright, let's do this."
"I don't get what's the big deal about some old mask." Biolante shrugged.
"Ghidorah seems to believe the legends about the masks power are true." Hedorah explained. "Personally, I think this is a waste of time."
"Well, Ghidorah doesn't care about your opinion." Gigan said. "Now let's get to it."
With that, Gigan transformed his arm into a long chainsaw, beginning to cut a large hole in the roof. When Tahu opened his eyes, he was an environment he was not familiar with. The other Toa were around him, but they were certainly not on Okoto anymore. Tall buildings lined the paved streets, and large metal machines rolled along past them, with people wearing minimalistic clothing controlling them inside. Other people wearing similar clothing walked down the streets. The other Toa seemed just as confused.
"So this is the future." Tahu said, raising an eyebrow.
"I like it." Lewa grinned, placing his hands on his hips.
"Well I don't." Kopaka muttered. He noticed someone walking past them. She was a woman with long black hair, staring at a rectangular device in her hand that glowed in her face. Kopaka stopped her, making her look up in surprise. She seemed extremely confused by the Toa's appearances.
"Excuse me, miss, but my friends and I need some information." He said.
"Uh... okay." The woman said.
"What year is this?" Kopaka asked.
"2017." The woman replied.
"And what time is it currently?" Kopaka continued. The woman was getting even more confused now.
"Its about 5:30 or so." She said. The sky was dark, so the Toa could guess it was in the evening.
"One last question." Kopaka said. "Where are we right now?"
"...Tokyo. In Japan." The woman said, now thoroughly confused. Kopaka looked back at the Toa, who seemed to not know the name. Pohatu noticed something.
"That name sort of sounds similar to Okoto, doesn't it?" He said.
"That's true." Onua agreed. "Perhaps at some point between now and our time, Okoto was renamed Tokyo."
Satisfied with the answer, Kopaka turned back to the woman, who had already left. Just then, the Toa heard a voice in their minds.
"This is Ekimu. Can you all hear me?" Realizing who the voice was coming from, the Toa confirmed that they could hear him.
"Loud and clear." Tahu said.
"Ekimu, how are you able to contact us through time?" Gali asked.
"It's an ability of the Mask of Time." Ekimu explained. "Now, what I'm about to tell you is of extreme importance. The Mask of Control currently resides in a building known as a 'museum'. But people have arrived and plan to steal it for themselves. You must find this building and take the mask before it's too late."
"Understood." Tahu nodded.
"Oh, and one more thing." Ekimu said. "Since the locals of this timeline dress differently from us, I'd suggest removing your armour until you need it. It may make you stand out less."
The Toa nodded and pressed their hands to the centres of their chest pieces. They each had a crystal in the centre of their chest pieces which allowed their armour to retract, replacing it with the regular clothes they wore underneath. It also removed their masks. With their armour and masks out of sight, they looked like normal people, albeit dressed slightly strangely. They were dressed more for their specific regions and elements then for everyday life. Despite this, they looked normal enough to pass as locals.
"Alright, let's go to the 'museum'!" Tahu announced. Before they ran off, Onua spoke up.
"Um... where is it?" He asked.
"Alright, let's go try to find the 'museum'!" Tahu corrected himself.
