It was evening now. Godzilla couldn't shake the past days events from his mind. Things had been so much simpler before he learned about the Mask of Control. He sighed in frustration and shook his head. He told himself to stop worrying. He thought about how he hadn't seen or heard from the Toa in a long time, and assumed that maybe Tahu took his advice and left. His thoughts were interrupted when Mothra came up behind him and hugged him, kissing him on the cheek.
"Coming to bed?" She asked. Godzilla looked at her and smiled. Whenever something was wrong in his life, Mothra was usually the thing that made everything better.
"Yeah, sure." He said, and followed Mothra to their bed. As Mothra got herself under the covers, Godzilla simply sat on the bed. Mothra raised an eyebrow and sat up next to him.
"Is something wrong?" She asked.
"No, I'm fine." Godzilla said. "I was just thinking about the Toa. Tahu seriously thinks I want the Mask of Control for myself."
"Really?" Mothra said. She seemed concerned now. "Why would he think that?"
"I'm not sure." Godzilla shrugged. "Whatever, it doesn't matter. I'm sure everything will be fine."
Just as he said this, his phone rang. He picked it up, and saw a number he didn't recognize on the screen. Godzilla didn't recognize it, but answered anyway.
"Hello?" He answered. The voice on the other end was not so polite.
"I know what you did." It spat. Godzilla furrowed his brow. Mothra could hear the voice as well, and looked at Godzilla with a confused glance. He looked at her and shrugged.
"Who the hell is this?" He asked.
"You know who I am." The voice replied. He was right. Godzilla recognized the voice now. It was Tahu. He groaned in annoyance.
"How did you get this number?" He asked.
"I found it through the internet." Tahu explained.
Godzilla rolled his eyes. "And what do you mean you know what I did?"
"I mean I know you stole the mask." Tahu said. "I had it, and you stole it from me in the night. I saw the security footage."
Godzilla thought this was especially strange. Mothra was confused as well.
"What's he talking about?" She asked.
"I-I don't know. I didn't go anywhere last night..." Then it hit him; Ghidorah was attempting to frame him, and he probably had the mask now. He realized how serious the situation was now, and turned back to the communicator.
"Listen, Tahu, I know you don't trust me, but the mask is in way worse hands than mine." He said. "I know who has it. We can get it together if you'll just listen to me!"
"No way, Godzilla." Tahu interrupted. "You can't fool me. If you want to prove yourself, come fight me. Just us. No masks, nobody else, just you and me. If you don't, then I'll find you and kill you myself."
Godzilla gritted his teeth. He had only one option. "Fine. Name the time and the place."
"In one hour, meet me at the abandoned warehouse in the middle of Tokyo." Tahu said. "Then we can settle this. I'll be waiting."
Before Godzilla could say another word, Tahu hung up. Godzilla angrily looked down at the communicator while Mothra, who had heard the whole conversation, scooted over to him, grabbing onto his arm. She looked up at him with a worried expression. She wasn't worried about Godzilla; she knew he could handle himself. She was worried that he would lose his temper and hurt Tahu too badly.
"Godzilla, don't." She said. "It's not worth it. Just let it go." Godzilla brushed her away and stood up. His hand clenched into a tight fist.
"Sorry, Mothra." He said. "But I need to teach this little shit a lesson."
One Hour Later...
Tahu observed as the moon shone through the window, illuminating the entire warehouse. It was the perfect spot for his battle with Godzilla. As the moon moved into position, exactly an hour had passed since Tahu had called Godzilla. He heard a thump behind him, and quickly turned around, only to see Godzilla, who had just landed on the floor after coming in through another window. He stood up and stared daggers at Tahu. The two stared each other down from across the room as lightning crashed in the distance. Finally, one of them spoke.
"So you didn't bring the mask." Tahu said. "Good to know you still have some honour."
"For the last time, I didn't steal the... never mind." Godzilla restrained himself from yelling. "I'll give you one last chance to leave. We both have more important things to worry about."
"That's true. I'll have to make this quick." Tahu responded. Godzilla growled and began walking to the left. Tahu began walking in the opposite direction. They never took their eyes off each other.
"Only one of us is leaving here tonight." Godzilla said, drawing his katana.
"I agree." Tahu said, drawing his swords. "And it won't be you."
Finally, Godzilla gritted his teeth and ran foreword. Tahu did the same. The two met in the middle, and jumped into the air, clashing blades. The two fell to the ground again, with Godzilla landing on his feet and Tahu landing on his back. Godzilla prepared to strike Tahu while he was vulnerable, but he rolled out of the way just in time. As he got back up, he activated his masks battle mode. He drew back and tossed a fireball at Godzilla, who managed to dodge in time right before he got tackled by Tahu. Before Godzilla could react, Tahu slammed his fist into his face. Before he could do it again, Godzilla caught his fist and twisted his arm around. Tahu shouted in pain before Godzilla stood up and tossed him away. He collided with a wall and fell to the ground.
"This isn't gonna end well for you." Godzilla said. "Stand down. Final warning."
Tahu shakily got himself back up and got into a battle stance.
"I could do this all day." He taunted. He charged a fireball in his hand, but before he could throw it, Godzilla sent an atomic blast at him. Tahu didn't have time to move, and the blast tore the armour off of his shoulder. He gripped his shoulder in pain, but managed to dodge another atomic blast. The blast instead hit a load bearing column, damaging it substantially. Godzilla noticed this. If they kept this up, the building would crumble around them. Tahu didn't seem to notice, as he continued to attack Godzilla. They clashed swords again and again, until Tahu kicked Godzilla in the stomach. While he pitched foreword, Tahu kicked him again, this time in the head. This sent him to the ground once more, though he got back up just as Tahu jumped into the air, jabbing his sword into the ground. The sword pierced a pipe underneath the ground, spraying out water when Tahu pulled his sword out.
"If Gali or Kopaka were here, they could help me." He thought. As he pondered this, Godzilla attacked again. He uppercutted him, sending him flying into the air. He managed to land on his feet, but he was severely weakened. Godzilla wasn't faring much better. While Tahu was nowhere near as powerful as Godzilla, especially without his Golden Mask, he was just as stubborn. He wasn't gonna give up anytime soon.
"You're persistent, I'll give you that." Godzilla said. "That doesn't mean you'll win."
Tahu didn't respond. Rather, he tossed another fireball. Godzilla saw this coming and ducked, but he didn't see that the fireball hit the column that was already damaged. It crumbled upon impact, leading to some of the other columns next to it getting damaged due to having to support more weight. Tahu noticed this time. Godzilla didn't. He was getting angry now.
"Listen, Tahu. I'll give you one last chance." He said. "Turn around, and walk away. Otherwise, I'll probably have to kill you."
"Why haven't you killed me yet?" Tahu challenged.
"Believe me, if I wanted it, you would have been dead as soon as we started." Godzilla growled. This didn't sway Tahu at all. Rather, he ran towards Godzilla agin. Godzilla sighed angrily and retaliated by swinging his sword. Their blades locked as both pushed against each other. Tahu was surprisingly strong, and managed to push Godzilla back quite a bit. Finally, Tahu headbutted Godzilla in the face. This was especially painful due to his mask. Godzilla stumbled back, and Tahu fired a massive fireball at him point-blank. This blasted him into one of the other columns, breaking it on impact. This was the last straw for this part of the building. The other columns around him broke and crumbled, and the ceiling began to fall. Before Godzilla could get back up, he was buried in metal and concrete rubble. Tahu smirked.
"Good riddance." He hissed. Before he could leave, he heard the sound of metal girders breaking. The columns left were only barely holding up the building. Tahu looked up at the crumbling ceiling as the other columns broke. The whole building came down on his head.
When Godzilla woke up, he was wracked with pain. The warehouse had crumbled around him. More specifically, it had crumbled on top of him. He tried to get up, but gritted his teeth as pain ran through his legs. They were definitely broken. They'd heal eventually, but not while he was stuck under piles of metal and concrete. He tried to move the debris away from him so he could get out easier, but someone was already pulling away the massive slabs of rock that had fallen around him. When the last piece of rubble was gone, Godzilla could see who was digging through it. It was Tahu. Before Godzilla could react, Tahu reached down and grabbed Godzilla by the throat. He ripped him out of the debris, throwing him onto the ground. Godzilla tried to get up as his legs began to heal, but he only got into a kneeling position before Tahu approached him.
"Wait, Tahu, stop!" Godzilla said, right before Tahu sent him to the ground once again with a punch to the face. This was followed by another, and then another. Godzilla actually spat blood onto the ground as Tahu's fist connected with his face again. Finally, Tahu stopped wailing on him. As Godzilla tried to get up, he saw that Tahu had left to grab a sharp piece of broken pipe. Godzilla could guess what he was going to do with it. He attempted to get up, but couldn't. He was in too much pain. Tahu came back and stepped on his arm to prevent him from moving. He raised the pipe into the air, aiming it towards Godzilla's chest. Even despite Godzilla'd healing abilities, if anything damaged his heart, he would die immediately. Tahu was about to kill him.
"Any last words?" Tahu growled. Godzilla looked up at Tahu angrily. There was no fear in his eyes. Only rage and contempt for Tahu.
"If you're gonna kill me, show me your face." He growled.
Tahu complied, and deactivated his mask. Godzilla could see that he had suffered some damage himself. His lip was bleeding, he had a black eye, and his nose was definitely broken. Godzilla didn't have time to focus on this, as Tahu raised the pipe higher. In a few seconds, Godzilla would be dead. He closed his eyes as he anticipated the impact, but it didn't come. He heard a splash of water, and didn't feel Tahu standing on him any more. He opened his eyes, only to see Tahu had been blasted away by a jet of water. Godzilla furrowed his brow and looked behind him, seeing two figures approaching them. He recognized them both after a few seconds. One was Mothra, and the other was Gali, the Toa of Water. Mothra rushed over to him and held his head up. She was worried, but more than anything she was happy he was alive.
"Godzilla, I knew this would be a bad idea!" She said. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah. I'll be able to heal myself fully in about an hour..." He trailed off as Mothra leaned in towards him. Whenever she healed him from major injuries, she usually did it through a kiss. This was one of those times. As they kissed, all Godzilla's injuries seemed to immediately melt away. After a few seconds, he was fine, and Mothra pulled away.
"Thanks." Godzilla said. He managed to get up, where he saw Gali berating Tahu.
"What the hell do you think you're doing!?" She shouted.
"I'm getting the Mask of Control back." Tahu said. "I know he has it!"
"No, he doesn't." Gali said. "Mothra explained everything to me. Godzilla would never steal the mask."
"Of course she would say that." Tahu snapped. "They're clearly a couple. She's just defending him!"
Mothra grimaced and put her hands on her hips. "That's a bit rude."
"Tahu, listen to yourself!" Gali said. She couldn't believe how stupid Tahu was being. "You were wrong, you idiot! Godzilla does not have the mask!"
"Then who does?!" Tahu shouted. At this point, Godzilla spoke up.
"Ghidorah." He said. "I tried to tell you. If anyone has the mask right now, it's Ghidorah. And he's probably put it on by now."
"So while you two were wasting time, Ghidorah's been plotting to take over the world." Mothra added.
Tahu pondered on this. He hated admitting he was wrong, but he seemed skeptical that Godzilla wasn't the one he was looking for. It all seemed to add up that Godzilla was attempting to steal the mask. His thought were interrupted by Mothra screaming. They all looked at her, and gasped when they saw she was being incased in crystal. Purple translucent structures slowly surrounded her, starting at her feet. She was immobile within seconds.
"W-what's going on-" She was frozen in the crystal before she had a chance to finish her sentence. Godzilla's eyes widened and he ran over to her.
"Mothra!" He called. He placed his hands on the crystal. He could see that the only thing she could move were her eyes, which appeared terrified.
"It's Makuta's power!" Gali said. She was slowly being incased in crystal as well. She tried to escape, but the crystal was far too strong. "The Mask of Control is being used-" She was frozen as well. Tahu stared in disbelief. He had seen these crystals before. They were all around the City of the Mask Makers when Makuta's army had taken over. They definitely came from Makuta. And this meant Godzilla didn't have the mask after all. Godzilla saw his realization, and looked at him with an angry expression.
"Go on. Admit it." He snapped. Tahu slowly turned to face him.
"I was wrong." He said.
