"Sometimes I have to tell myself it's not worth the jail time"

I don't know how long we sat there.

In a comfortable silence.

Just me and Shane.

My hand still placed on his chest.

His heart beating alive and healthy.

He was alive.

Shane is fine.

That's what I kept telling myself.

He was softly rubbing my back.

As I tried to stop the tears.

He was always more caring than Jasper.

More kind.

Jasper was more hardcore.

Badasses don't have a sweet side.

That's what I always said.

But for Shane that didn't apply.

"Shane?" I asked.

"Yeah?" He replied.

"You'll never leave me right?" I asked.

"Not even if the whole world asked me too" he replied pulling me closer to him.

"I just don't know what I'd do without you" I said quietly.

He looked down at me while I looked up at him.

I laid my head back down on his chest.

I was drained.

I was so tired.

I slowly began to drift off to sleep in Shane's arms.

This weekend was droning on ever so slowly.

|SHANES POV|

I was woken up in the middle of the night to someone shaking me.

"Shane?" The voice called.

And I knew exactly who it was.

"Amber?" I asked.

Yep sure enough.

It was her.

I already knew why she was here.

A nightmare.

I wish I could just erase her mind of all of her bad memories.

It killed me to see her like this.

Crying and frantic.

"You had a bad dream again didn't you?" I asked her.

"You wanna talk about it?" I asked as I made room for her on the bed.

She instantly cuddled next to me.

Oh god

And this is where I loose my cool

I've known Amber for years and after I kissed her when we were kids.

I vowed to protect her.

But I failed.

Her heart was broken.

By a guy I trusted for Christ sake!

Ill  be honest with you.

Over time I've fallen for Amber.

Completely head over heels.

I could've treated her better.

I would've cherished her.

But sadly Jasper took her heart and smashed it.

And slowly I hope to repair.

"Y-You" she started.

"Y-You died and there was nothing I could do to help but watch." She said with teary eyes.

That broke me to hear her voice like that.

"Hey, hey it's ok I'm right here." I told her sweetly.

And placed her hand on my chest.

She needed to know I was here and I wasn't leaving.

She deserved way better than Jasper.

And I'll make sure she gets better.

She's had enough heartbreak.

Sure it kills me to see her with other guys.

But if it makes her happy.

Then I'm gonna have to find a way to live.

And sooner or later she fell asleep.

I'm my arms safe and protected from the outside world.
